Sunday lunch was perfect. Only complaint was that there were only two of us seated next to a very jolly party of about thirty so the noise levels made conversation between us difficult. Maybe there should be a separate area for large parties so others may enjoy more intimate dining.
We took my husbands grandmother for lunch here on Saturday as she lives this way.
We’ve been once before and I can say both times now we have had a lovely time!
This place is tastefully decorated, staff very polite & helpful and food is just fantastic we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves so thank you. We will definitely be back again sometime.
Another fab evening at the Wild Mushroom. This restaurant never disappoints. Rose Prosecco and canapés in the conservatory. So civilised! Followed by amuse bouche, home made breads and the most fabulous meal after. This restaurant is our favourite local, such a warm welcome from Gerard and his team. Dress up and go if you haven’t been, you won’t be disappointed!
Have been many times and it never disappoints. Food is always excellent with a great choice and varying menu. Staff are friendly and helpful. Service excellent and good atmosphere, never pushy, always allow time for courses.
Excellent restaurant, outstanding service and superb food. Highly recommended.
Brilliant we will be back again as soon as possible
Another fabulous meal, accompanied by excellent service. We will be back.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Nice to be warmly greeted by our host! We'll go again soon, I hope!
Beautiful food, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere
Very comfortable cosy restaurant with excellent service. Very good selection of drinks and superb menu.
Very attentive service
Lovely canapés and food was first class
Lovely restaurant, impeccable service and and good food. Sadly our visit was just let down by their strangely low tables.
I’m not tall by any means and yet it felt like I was eating out of my lap and as a back pain sufferer by the end of the night my meal was somewhat spoilt by having a dreadfully painful back.
About time for some better tables and I will be back.
I took a friend for a belated Birthday treat, excellent service ,very tasty meal with outstanding flavours.
We both enjoyed the experience .
We visit The Wild Mushroom several times a year and are never disappointed
Our sixth visit in a year, usually in company with 'foody' friends, all of whom have been very happy except our only evening visit on which we found the tasting menu a little unbalanced and lacking finesse in some areas - other dishes we could see passing looked up to the usual standard, and to be fair the restaurant was very busy.
We normally do lunch, which is exceptional value, and the restaurant is light and airy, with garden bar and outside seating for aperatifs and coffee. The table layout is excellent, and you never feel crowded.
Very happy to have an establishment of this quality so close at hand, we'll be back.
Great service and great food never had a bad night there
We have been here many times, and have never been disappointed. The food is quite simply sublime! The separate bar area (and outside in the garden in fine weather) is really welcoming and cozy, where you will always receive a selection of mini canapes (at no extra cost) to taste with your pre-dinner drink.
When you are seated at your table you also receive a small appetiser to whet the taste buds before your order arrives.
The staff are delightful and allow plenty of time for diners to finish their courses without any pressure. And the French manager clearly takes pride in his work, and in the quality of food and service that he oversees.
This converted farmhouse is quintessentially English in style and spirit, and is nestled in a tiny village close to Hastings. There's plenty of parking, though all the local minicabs know this restaurant well, and the staff are happy to call one for you if you would like.
The value for money for such superior cuisine puts many more pretentious diners to be found in London and Brighton in the pale.
Cannot recommend enough!
One of the best meals we've had in a long time - beautifully cooked food and wonderful ambience. The staff are excellent and we would definitely return for another special occasion!
Always a pleasure to introduce friends to The Wild Mushroom experience. Our meal this week was of the usual high standard, well presented and served by delightful staff. We are so lucky to have this venue nearby..lots of our London friends are so jealous.
The ambiance is great and the service is impeccable. That the food is great goes without saying. Jules and his team make this place special, but it wouldn't be the same without him.
Excellent food and ambiance.
Staff were attentive
Excellent food and service as always. A real gem that we uave visited dozens of times in the last 4 years. I just wish we could go more often.
All 4 of us had a fab experience here. It’s a very lovely venue and we can’t fault any aspect of our visit. Superb evening - always a treasure.
We really enjoyed our lunch at the Wild Mushroom. The food was delicious and the service was relaxed and friendly. This our favourite restaurant and we always have a good time.
The very attentive friendly staff, amazing food and ambiance made my birthday lunch with friends just perfect! Thank you wild mushroom I will defiantly return and recommend.
Fantastic food and experience, people who appreciate good food should visit
We have already booked again.
Great place for any occasion
As usual outstanding food, superb service and wonderful ambience.
Exquisite food as I remember it when it opened 20 years ago. Amazing consistency from the chef / owner Webbe! Week done
We had a lovely meal.... the service was great....really nice place
Service was impeccable and food was outstanding. Introduced 5 guests to this restaurant for the first time, three of them said it was the best food they have ever experienced. Value for money is outstanding.
Second time we have eaten here and as last time, it was great service and food. We could not decide where to go to celebrate our anniversary, here or Webbe's Fish cafe, so decided to spoil ourselves and do both (we went to the Fish Cafe the night before). Can't recommend enough I just wish it was a bit closer to us.
Good service and great food with some nice touches and surprises.
It won’t disappoint.
Absolutely amazing from the food to the service. My mum has allergies and they catered to her even at short notice. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to.
Always the first restaurant we think of if we have a special occasion to celebrate or for a meal out with friends or family. We had our Golden Wedding celebration at the Wild Mushroom a few years ago and they certainly 'did us proud' - excellent. Highly recommend. We commented this time that we had had our 50th celebration there and that we were there this day as it was our anniversary - 56 years! When our dessert arrived there was a separate plate with some chocolates and with 'happy anniversary' written in chocolate.
Very much appreciated.
We look forward to our next visit.
Great food, fine wine and wonderful service. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
Every time I have lunch there it gets better I can not think of a better place to enjoy Sunday lunch.
Good food and service, pleasent quite restaurant enjoyable dining experiance
Admittedly, it's our favourite place for special celebrations - deservedly so - but I'd definitely recommend it for specials. Not cheap, not quick, but that means that (a) you're paying the correct amount for your food, and (b) it's being prepared for you there and then. One of the few places where I can confidently order my steak bleu.
For four people, starter; mains; and three puddings; a v nice bottle of Bourgogne Pinot Noir (that had been allowed to breathe properly; and a coffee, was about 50GBP per person.
My only irritation, which is an entirely personal one, is that I don't like the ambient music. It's too MOTR/Radio2 for my liking. I'd prefer either classical or no music at all, although in my perfect world there would be live, local musicians playing their own compositions and getting properly paid for it. However, that'll be right up there with World Peace, because I really do know exactly the kind of slender margins businesses generally, and restaurants particularly, have to operate upon.
The maitre d', whose name after all these times we've been, I discover, is Joel (?sp). Avuncular, courteous, witty, and very much aware of the delicacy of the relationship between staff and customers.
Once again, another lovely meal! We visit the Wild Mushroom several times a year and can always be confident of having a good meal and feeling valued customers
