Manager - Umesh (You will spot the guy with the pony tail)
Food is decent and fresh. The quantity is too little. We ordered idli and never in last 10 years of eating in a indian restaurant in London I have been served 1 idli for £4.50. anyone, who has eaten south indian food knows idli is served as a min. of 2 or 3. This should give you idea of food and price.
Overall for a group of 7 of us, we enjoyed right in the heart of London a restaurant where food and service was good and tasty!
Service poor. Had to ask several times to just get some water. Food was average. There are so many great restaurants in London go somewhere else.
Even though we made the reservation, when we got to the restaurant it was CLOSED for renovation. Very disappointing and we should not have been able to book the table if the restaurant was closed and what makes it more annoying is at time of booking the massage popped up about only a few tables available for our time slot.
Tasty vegetarian Indian cuisine. Have enjoyed it more in years past, but still good!
Extremely good authentic Southern Indian Cuisine. I have been eating here for thirty years and it never disappoints.
Nice quiet restaurant serving excellent quality dosas and other meals. all cooked to a high standard by friendly staff.
Nice spot with a varied vegetarian menu. The dosas were particularly good, the samosas too. We were there on a fairly busy evening, and they could really have done with an additional person on wait staff, but otherwise a good experience and the food speaks for itself.
The food was excellent- I loved my mushroom curry and the Thali plate was great. We were very alarmed however to learn that the 12.5% service charge is kept by the owner and not passed on to the staff!!! Surely the staff are the ones who earn that money through their hard work? I was very displeased to learn this.
Really good vegan indian place. All food was very tasty and authentic
Nice place and people. The food lacks what I call zing. Spice and heat lacked throughout the dishes. It’s ok.
Best mushroom curry ever! Attentive service and great food, couldn’t ask for better Indian food in a better setting
The Dosas were amazing and it was great to have so many gluten free vegan options.
Having said that, the service was very slow after being sat, we requested tap water and were served plastic bottles.
The portions were tiny but that was quite lucky as our curries were almost inedible - we chose Chana Masala and Rogan Josh as they are usually the mildest and more flavourful options. They were so spicy we couldn’t eat them - I’m very glad I didnt choose the jalfrezi! Add in the pricing and overall wouldn’t recommend or return.
Really enjoyed the evening. Third time i am going and still happy with everything i have eaten so far.
As a regular diner, I find the good is consistently excellent. As a vegetarian, it's great to be able to choose anything from the menu. The service was perfect. The dishes we chose we're quite small and cost from 5 to 8 pounds. We paid 18 pound per person including a drink and a naan bread.
We're living in London for a year and Woodlands is about 100 feet from our front door, on Marylebone Lane in Marylebone. We steered away because it's "vegetarian" and we're meat lovers.... what a mistake! The most delicious, flavoursome, interesting, mouthwatering Indian food we've had in some time. The JackFruit Curry? Insanely good! The starters, terrific. A great Indian beer (Cobra?)! the filled Indian pancakes with potato were outstanding. Luckily we're still here for a new few weeks - and we'll be haunting Woodlands several more times! NOT TO BE MISSED.
This place was fantastic. I was really pleased with everything we ordered.
They have us a big table for our group of five and I don’t think you could fit much more than six in a party, but I’d come back anytime for a semi casual meal.
The food at Woodlands has always exceeded my expectations, however the service is a let down. Our table waiter was never around, so we had to get up mid supper to find him to order more food and drinks. The second half of the meal came very very late but the food was delicious as ever.
If they sort out the service, this restaurant is Ace.
Chose this place based on prior food reviews and they were spot on. Delicious food, friendly and efficient service and nice atmosphere. Will be my go to vege Indian for Marylebone.
Just excellent Thank you.. Brilliant food very pleasant service, the waiter really helped with the menu and was very polite. There was a very calm atmosphere and the evening was altogether very pleasant.
will be visiting again.
I wouldn’t go back if it was free very very poor service and the food was even worse than the service
Great vegetarian Indian. I would def go again even through I’m not vegetarian.
Excellent tasty vegetarian food. Nice service. Need to supply slimline tonic. Would visit again.
It was a lovely evening and the food was just amazing
We booked with open table. When we arrived, the Restaurant seemed unaware of our reservation. They put us at a table in the back, which was stuffy and not well lit. The food was good, with a good selection of vegetarian dishes but the service very slow and inattentive. I suggest going to the other Woodlands branches in London.
I was not impressed with service for a Friday. I guess this was a busy nigjt. They got starter wrong, wine wrong and mixed salad was slices of thick cut onion, tomatoes and cucumber. No actual salad.
However they do good masala dosa but i am unable tp eat these things now.
Slightly small portions. Could work on the presentation. Overall good though
Great food. Visited for a post theatre supper with a friend. The food was really excellent. The service was friendly but we felt a bit rushed - although the restaurant was not full we were checked up on too many times which prompted us to leave earlier than we would normally. I would go back again with vegetarian friends as the food was good.
Food was not outstanding. Tandoori roti and garlic naan did not seem to be freshly cooked but rather heated frozen food.
Ambience - the manager kept speaking loudly on the phone all throughout. This disturbed the ambience completely as we were the only couple having dinner in that restaurant area
Service - we asked twice for the bill to no avail. We had to actually walk down to request for the bill when the manager says - he didn’t know we had asked for the bill. This just shows lack of attention to the customers.
Value - the food portions were quite small for the rates. That combined with okayish food quality, and above ambience and level of service - value did not seem quite good.
It’s absolute trash in the name of Indian (South Indian) food. This is no where close to
Ordered a South Indian thali. Came with dosa, idly and some veggies and sambar. The dosa batter is wrong! Idly was cold. There was only one chutney as accompaniment. The okra curry clearly had preservatives and seems to be an actual frozen dish that’s heated up and served. Sambar is definitely not South Indian. Clearly the chef is a North Indian or not even that. Terrible quality of food. Please look for alternatives. For >£25, this is absolutely disappointing and bad.
Food was okay. Dosa was starter size when we ordered normal. They could have done a lot more with the food which is annoying as we were craving yummy Indian food! It’s fine for a quick lunch if you are not a proper foodie.
For us the Woodlands is a go-to restaurant when we are in London. We are not vegetarian but it is a very good Indian restaurant, vegetarian or not. The food is very tasty without being stupidly hot, the choice on the menu is good, the staff are pleasant and the service is quick. Let's hope it always maintains its high standard!
Excellent service, friendly with a very nice food selection.
Poor look and poor cleanness
I've been wanting to try a good vegetarian Indian restaurant for a while now and this one certainly didn't disappoint. There were two of us and we decided to have one each of two Thalis on the menu to share. We both like spicy food and we very much enjoyed the taste and variety. The restaurant clearly aims for taste rather than heat, and I think they have this spot on. If you're a non-vegetarian then don't let this put you off - my friend eats meat and she enjoyed the food as much as myself.
It was mid-week and so the restaurant was only half full, but the service was polite, attentive and efficient. There was background music, Indian, but certainly not intrusive.
We were recommended to come here but weren't as impressed as our friends had been. The food was great but the restaurant seemed a bit lacking in atmosphere although to be fair we were eating early and it wasn't very busy.
One of the worst and unusual experiences. Two of the dishes served to us had 'human hair' in it.
The men's toilet was being used by the staff to smoke. The toilets smelled badly of cigarette smoke, given that it is a non smoking restaurant.
The hygiene level of the restaurant is questionable.
There were four youngsters next to us who were regulars to the place. They were unreasonably loud and the worst part was they were swearing and using foul language too often. We were two families with 3 kids with us. even after requesting them through the staff it continued.
I would not recommend the place to families or people with kids.
Authentic Indian food.
Nice staff, great service. Went with family, everyone enjoyed food. Very good value. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic South Indian cuisine, great menu, everything was exactly what we wanted, this place has been going for years and it never disappoints. We took some friends who had not experienced it before and they have some new fans.,
This is our favorite place to eat when we visit London. One of the top vegetarian restaurants in the city - for good reason! And it's not your "everyday Indian fare" either. There are some dishes here that I usually only get when I travel to India. Hugh recommendations for their Dosa and Uttapam.
