As always never disappointed with the standard of the food. I went for the Tiger Rolls (as they looked delicious when delivered to another table ) despite not being a complete sushi fan (only supermarket quick take away experience) and they were amazing. Fresh tasty and full of fresh salmon. and avocado and prawns and not just the usual cold plain sushi rice experience. Service excellent too.
Cant fault the food at all.. Really good. The service struggles on a busy Saturday eve. The manager acknowledged and apologised and discounted our final bill, so not much else he could do. Hopefully it was an off night, as food is worth returning for
We usually love Yama Momo but this was a really poor experience. The restaurant was very busy, very noisy and the service was patchy at best. The food was the usual high standard but we waited a long time for everything. The biggest problem was the large number of little black flies that kept attacking our table and food. There were dozens of them on a picture behind the table and when I mentioned it to our waitress she said they were aware but were struggling to get rid of them. It was really quite unpleasant and I think they should close until they can sort the problem out.
Great food, slow and slightly disorganised service. Can be very loud for a date if next to tables of 4 or more. Great for dinner with friends. Good cocktails.
Every time I eat here the food is impeccably well prepared and presented - The drinks menu is really good too. Always buzzy and recommend booking at busier times.
Perfect venue for a birthday treat. Will definetly return.
We were inundated with flies al night, my wife was covered in bites the next morning... it completely ruined the evening.
We won’t be returning!
Fantastic as always, love the food here and had a fun birthday celebration. As good if not better than any of the central London Japanese restaurants ! Service could have been a little faster given how many staff who were working but waitress was very nice.
I really like Yama Momo so it’s probably just a one off - this time the service wasn’t great to start with & the music was pretty awful & loud - there was a sound clash between two parts of the restaurant & they had on some very hectic dance music - not appropriate for a chilled date. It got better but at one point I did consider leaving. No-one served us & eventually I got some attention. After that the waiter was lovely but I shouldn’t have had to flag him down after quite a long wait. The food & wine were great as usual & I will go back.
Really excellent Japanese food and attentive service
Yama Momo had stopped their "all you can eat" lunch on Sundays and instead provided a set menu at the same price £20pp. Personally this was much preferred by me and my party. The restaurant and eating experience was less frantic and a more enjoyable experience. The salt and pepper squid (not so japanese admittedly) was our favorite starter. All the maki (rolls) were excellent - salmon skin the best; and the mains excellent. We topped up with a sashimi platter. The portions are a decent size and we didn't need anything else. Service was prompt for food and drinks. We'll go again.
One of our favourite places to eat, great staff and outstanding food. Our kids also love eating there as the choice accommodates there tastes as well as more adventurous pallet. Highly recommended
The food is delicious and the lunch menu is tremendous value. Choose 1 appetizer, 1 main, and 1 sushi for £20. If there is a small group of you, all chose differently and you can try a bit of everything. Highly recommend the buns, tempura, teriyaki chicken, pork belly, and the tuna truffle mayo sushi.
Even though we weren't seated immediately and the service was slow or forgetful at points, the overall food and experience is worth the visit.
Staff were friendly and courteous. Food arrived quickly and was pretty good. It was very busy and just Tuesday night.
This is one of my all time favourite restaurants, whether for date night or friends night out. Food is always fantastic and the cocktails are AMAZING! Priced mid range so not the cheapest but great value overall and portion sizes are good. I would particularly recommend the scallops starter, spicy edamame beans and tofu with truffle and mushrooms for veggis or pork belly for carnivores :)
The food just wasn't very good, not fresh, oily... OVER PRICED
Booked as a surprise for my girlfriend on her birthday. We were both blown away by the food and cocktails, and by the end of the meal we were deciding what to have next time we visit!
Excellent food and service ! Really bad selection of sale and drinks are exorbitant !
Love this place, it’s great to have such a good Japanese restaurant locally. Love the black cod.
As a family Japanese theme restaurant the quality is fine. As authentic quality Japanese food there is a lot which could be criticised. I
I've been meaning to visit for a long time but moved out the city before I got the chance. When it was time to select somewhere for my friend's bday treat I jumped at booking here and it lived up to the anticipation! From when we walked in we was greeted out of the rain with smiley faces and welcomed to sit at the bar whilst we waited for a new table (as we decided last minute we didn't wish to sit by the door as we had reserved - the summer night wasn't feeling summery at all!) After we ordered cocktails from the friendly bar staff our table was ready (very quickly) and we sat down to amazing food all night. Cocktails and food were delicious and new to my taste buds! When asked if it was a special occasion, I embarrassed my friend by saying yes and they brought out the dessert with the whole staff singing along! My friend defo enjoyed the cute chefs who you can see from where we were seated ;) I will defo be returning!
Fabulous family meal to celebrate GCSE results with three kids aged 16-8. Lovely food and very good service.
Fab venue, good food - would definitely eat here again
Have enjoyed every meal at this restaurant. Great one this time again.
Took my wife there for evening dinner, the service was really good, plus the food was full of flavour and tasted good. Would definitely go back there again.
Food less good than usual, and terrible service, slow, forgetting things then not reordering them when reminded.
Lovely place and love the yummy food
Brilliant food as always, fantastic atmosphere with a great energy. Only downfall was that we were sat at our table then ignored for about ten minutes, had to call a waiter over to take a drink order.
Food was good always however disappointed in the new set menu buffet menu and they should really advertise that menu online so people can see what they're getting
Service was very disappointing There were three of us and we decided to have the set menu . Two of the appetizers came together. After some time we reminded the waitress that we were waiting for the third appetizer and was told it would be a minute. Five minutes later the third appetizer arrived.
The starters were all served on the same plate which put off one of my companions who does not like the taste or smell of fish and had ordered the non fishy sushi .
Re the mains I ordered a seafood stew - the tofu version arrived. This was replaced.
Service was slow and there appear to be problems with communication with the kitchen .
Every other time I have been to Yama Momo I have ordered a la carte and the food and service have been excellent.
Amazing restaurant. We booked a table and asked for a specific seat, which we got. All the staff were attentive, helpful and respectful. Cocktails were served perfectly each time. We ate vegetarian and fish options only, all were beautifully presented and well seasoned. A really good vibe. Only downside was that the seating was a bit snug, but not overly. It’s my third time here and I’m planing to visit again. Love this place!
It’s my third time back. Everything from the friendly and helpful service, food and experience, was outstanding. The food is memorably delicious and worth every penny. Looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend!
This restaurant never fails to disappoint, great welcoming staff, happy ambience and food like no other in this area.
A real hidden gem :)
Brilliant local restaurant with great food and friendly efficient staff
Food was lovely even if it was a bit pricey I felt. The ambience was very nice and good artwork
Great service. Lovely waitress. Only downside is we were sat opposite the kitchen and the chef was constantly staring, so a bit off putting. Other than that, I cannot say a negative word!
We have not tried Japanese before so did not have any pre-conceptions;
The food is extremely tasty and freshly cooked
likewise the staff are extremely efficient, helpful and attentive.
I would not suggest this restaurant for an intimate date or relaxing evening, the tables are small and close and the food arrives quickly, maybe this gives a sense of dining in Tokyo, however for a bite before going elsewhere or lunch with a friend it would definitely be high on the list.
We always love our visits to Yama Momo and so did our friends visiting from abroad - Thank you 😊
BAD: We booked the table but we had to wait 30 minutes to seat.
GOOD: The food was very delicious.
