We always love our visits to Yama Momo and so did our friends visiting from abroad - Thank you 😊
BAD: We booked the table but we had to wait 30 minutes to seat.
GOOD: The food was very delicious.
We had a lovely evening at Yama Momo starting with some delicious cocktails at the bar. Our table was ready on time and we were waited on very attentively. Our waiter advised on menu choices and food was served promptly. We share platters of tempura and chicken gyoza to start. The tempura was light and fresh whilst the gyoza had a kick to it. I’d happily eat both dishes again. I ordered sushi for my main course. Unfortunately a fly landed on the little rolls and proceeded to explore my sushi! Our waiter removed the dish without any fuss and the sushi was remade. Great service - all delivered with a smile. Thank you Yama Momo for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. See you again soon!
Really excellent meal of great quality, particularly for a "local" restaurant - attentive and friendly staff and a great room, all round recommend
Always love Yama Momo, it never fails to disappoint. The food is excellent and the vibe relaxed.
Visited with my 12 year old grandson and the whole experience far exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and very helpful when we needed information about the menu. The food was delicious and authentic. Perfectly fresh as Japanese food should be. It was a very enjoyable evening. I hope we can visit again.
We love the food at Yamamomo and normally the service is excellent. Sadly, on Sunday, the waiter forgot to put in the order for my son, so by the time we were half-way through our food, he still hadn't received his meal. To be fair, when we brought it to the attention of the staff, the waiter came over and immediately apologised, quickly put the order in and took 50% off the dish without us having to ask. In the end, my son took his food to go, but it still tasted great! We would still recommend Yamamomo and come back.
Lovely food and a great selection on the menu. Very friendly staff.
Really disappointing experience compared to previous nights here. Hope this isn’t a trend.
Lovely food as always very accommodating we Asked to be moved table as it was too busy and noisy and they very helpful and found us a quieter table
Disappointing meal. We had specifically asked when booking to be near the window rather than in the dingy basement. When we arrived we were given a table near the window at first. But then the manager came and said this was a mistake and we had to move to a table in the basement. The teriyaki was described on the menu as 'sizzling' but it had long stopped sizzling when it arrived at our table and by the time the rice and noodles arrived some long minutes later it was cold. This is a very pricey restaurant and they need either to improve what they have to offer or reduce the prices.
Great food, great service! Delish veggie food. V recommended
The restaurant was busy but it was extremely noisy from people at the bar and some very loud people near us. The music is nothing short of dreadful. The worst 80’s music. Quite incongruent with the place. Food was nice but small portions. Would look at some of the other local restaurants before going here again.
Had the set menu for an early Sunday (only available on Sunday and Monday). Good value, great food and good service. Pork belly was excellent.
Never ever been disappointed this is by far the best Japanese ever we drive over an hour to get here and it’s worth it every single time
Delicious food and excellent service!
We love Japanese food and like the menu here. Unfortunately, I think some of the dishes are over-salted (my seafood hotpot) and it would have been good to have been warned that other dishes were on a bed of salt. I love salt but it was easy to overdose between all the elements eg sauces, salt which is supposed to be there (like on the edaname beans), food presented on a bed of salt (no warning) and the typical condiments like soy sauce which one adds... What did not help was that the water was not left on the table and we kept having to ask for it. My other niggle was that the dishes did not arrive simultaneously for each course and it was awkward waiting quite a while for each person's starter or main to arrive. Otherwise, it was delicious!
Sad to say this was a poor experience. Very bad service in general, the wrong food appeared twice, one starter never turned up, the bill was wrong 5 different times. Pretty unhappy.
Good East Dulwich find. There were quite a few groups like us (ladies) who were there for drinks-only or to try out the menu. There were some unique options on the menu. We stuffed ourselves silly and had some interesting cocktails.
We always love our visits to Yama Momo, it’s become a firm favourite for Sunday lunch with three generations.
The food is so delicious and we get to share all the dishes, no food envy!
The atmosphere, design, background music and staff work in perfect harmony for a very enjoyable afternoon.
We highly recommend Yama Momos.
Thanks for a wonderful evening. My daughter was really blown away by the place and enjoyed every single morsel. The sushi was incredible and stunningly presented. Service was spot on and the food delicious especially the teriyaki beef which Im still drooling about. Your homemade noodles are scrummy.
very loud music
wrong drinks kept coming
dish didn’t arrive
Food was delicious - we had the black cod and spicy rib eye dish. The service was a bit slow but not an issue.
I took friend there who’s never had Japanese food. Loved it food was very good and service was good few confusion but was good.
Value for money and fresh food.
I have booked to go again on Thursday with friend.
Yama Momo is always yummy! I thought the portions seem to have got bigger too, my sea bass and my friends’ salmon both seemed huge, with loads of veg.
Service seemed a bit slow however, but still a great meal and hopefully I will be back soon!
Beautiful restaurant. Food was very well presented and tasted quite good. I'm only being fussy because in Singapore, this level of Japanese is considered average. There was 1 dish which was outstanding and that was the prawn kataifi. It was very good. On the whole I think it is a very nice restaurant with good food and good service. Would be happy to come again.
Lovely Sunday night treat - dynamite beef was incredible!!
Really had a lovely evening catching up with my lovely family. The staff were all lovely, the Matradee is especially attentive to all our needs. The food & cocktails are amazing. The atmosphere is that of a top west end restaurant but local to us. The other tables and whole ambience of the restaurant was just perfect.
Another fab evening at Yama Momo. Great service, good cocktails and lovely food.
Great place for romantic meal or friends get together. Excellent food (esp recommend the sashimi (basic platter), pork belly and platter of desserts - YUM!)
Amazing food and great cocktails!! We planned to just go for sushi but when we saw the set menu it looked really good and it tasted even better! Will definitely go back!
Great sushi and relaxed atmosphere on Lordship lane!
Lovely food and drinks, very pricey!
Fabulous treat from my son who lives locally ,every time I visit we go somewhere different
Will be coming back
We have been to Yama Momo a number of times and this was again a fabulous evening with superb food and service and a buzzing atmosphere. We had relatives staying with us for the weekend who are restaurant owners themselves. They loved it too which has to be a great recommendation! We will be back :)
Great service, food and atmosphere. Drinks were great and each cocktail had a special surprise but was a tad bit expensive. I defo will be returning
We came to Yama momo for my son's 12th birthday lunch which happened to be an all you can eat menu. The choice of food was not extensive with the all you can eat and everyone dining has to have the all you can eat what the reasoning around this is I do not know maybe they don't want people who are having the all you can eat sharing their food with other people who are not. Moving on there is enough on the menu for everyone and it tasted wonderful just like on the normal dining menu . You can only order two items at a go but this is more than enough as we all shared and picked at each other's food. There was a special going on for cocktails £6 a pop and they tasted lovely. All in all this is a good find and definitely worth a try.
Great food, very friendly service , can't wait to go back there again!!!
Went for lunch with a girlfriend and we were blown away by the freshness and quality of the food which was also very tasty! And service was on point. Worth the journey and price.
Will be visiting again soon, this time with a larger group.
I lived in California for several years, and it spoiled me where sushi is concerned. I stumbled across Yama Momo and will now be returning regularly as it is the best I have had in a very, very long time. The Truffle Mayonnaise Maki Roll was so good we ordered a second one. Truly exceptional, and unbeatable in this price range.
