I went there with a group of friends. We ordered from the set menu. The selection was right up my alley. The service was prompt and friendly. We all left super happy.
Delicous fresh food and tne staff really made the effort to make my daughters birthday meal special. We all had mocktails which we loved and they decorated the birthday cake very prettily
Great food and atmosphere
Some delays in service of table and drinks
A blank look from the manager at entrance despite booking the table. He just walked off with no explanation!
Overall good fun but they need to ensure the welcome matches the price
First time visit and pleasantly surprised. Great quality food, very attentive service and really nice ambience. Will be going back to try more on the menu!
Was not impressed with the food as three of out of four of us enjoyed food. We felt that both tofu dishes that we had was very bland. My husband felt that his meal was bland also. Not what we expected at all.
Creative and exquisite food and drinks. Always a pleasure to dine there.
Great food, good atmosphere, service was not up to expectations
The passion fruit cheese cake was so good, we ordered 2 each!!
Love this restaurant so much I keep coming back! Deliciously freshly cooked food, attentive staff and great atmosphere!
We visit the restaurant frequently for anniversary's birthdays, my husband and children know this is my favourite restaurant so do they can to book. We are recognised and made to feel very welcome when we arrive which is lovely. I don't want to complain because it is so lovely but we do encounter a lot of midges/flies not really sure what they are, but they are always there.
Delicious food, friendly helpful staff and a good atmosphere.... the sushi was amazing! The cocktails looked fabulous too, quite spectacular 🤩
The Food was amazing as usual but I felt that the portions were not as generous as on previous occasions.
This remains one of my favorite in East Dulwich
Fabulous fresh sushi in elegant surroundings...we return again and again!
The food at this restaurant is always very good, as are the cocktails. Service can sometimes be a little bit chaotic when its in full flow, but as regulars we are used to that now! The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. Having just experienced a Michelin star Japanese restaurant, the food here is as good, and in some cases was actually much better!
Great neighbourhood teriyaki restaurant. Have been many times and always great food.
Great evening. Had a short wait at the bar. The cocktails were great, and choice not too overwhelming. Food was delicious, quite generous portions too! Like we weren't told that there was lots of veg that came along with our mains and we had ordered a side dish of veg on top (for nothing as we could not finish it!).
Really great sushi. Good service. Great experience overall.
The food is somewhat inconsistent and seems slightly different every time. The first time I went I had a vegetarian roll with a mayonaissy dressing and some 'fried tempura flakes' . The vegetarian flakes have been missing since and they are not as tasty without and also surely important to add the ingredients that the menu states. The staff often seem to know nothing at all about the food or misunderstand every question. Something that must definitely be addressed it that the vegetarian sushi is often served on the same plate as the fish ones ordered by other people. When I've questioned this, the staff don't seem to understand the concept of vegetarianism.
As always never disappointed with the standard of the food. I went for the Tiger Rolls (as they looked delicious when delivered to another table ) despite not being a complete sushi fan (only supermarket quick take away experience) and they were amazing. Fresh tasty and full of fresh salmon. and avocado and prawns and not just the usual cold plain sushi rice experience. Service excellent too.
Cant fault the food at all.. Really good. The service struggles on a busy Saturday eve. The manager acknowledged and apologised and discounted our final bill, so not much else he could do. Hopefully it was an off night, as food is worth returning for
We usually love Yama Momo but this was a really poor experience. The restaurant was very busy, very noisy and the service was patchy at best. The food was the usual high standard but we waited a long time for everything. The biggest problem was the large number of little black flies that kept attacking our table and food. There were dozens of them on a picture behind the table and when I mentioned it to our waitress she said they were aware but were struggling to get rid of them. It was really quite unpleasant and I think they should close until they can sort the problem out.
Great food, slow and slightly disorganised service. Can be very loud for a date if next to tables of 4 or more. Great for dinner with friends. Good cocktails.
Every time I eat here the food is impeccably well prepared and presented - The drinks menu is really good too. Always buzzy and recommend booking at busier times.
Perfect venue for a birthday treat. Will definetly return.
We were inundated with flies al night, my wife was covered in bites the next morning... it completely ruined the evening.
We won’t be returning!
Fantastic as always, love the food here and had a fun birthday celebration. As good if not better than any of the central London Japanese restaurants ! Service could have been a little faster given how many staff who were working but waitress was very nice.
I really like Yama Momo so it’s probably just a one off - this time the service wasn’t great to start with & the music was pretty awful & loud - there was a sound clash between two parts of the restaurant & they had on some very hectic dance music - not appropriate for a chilled date. It got better but at one point I did consider leaving. No-one served us & eventually I got some attention. After that the waiter was lovely but I shouldn’t have had to flag him down after quite a long wait. The food & wine were great as usual & I will go back.
Really excellent Japanese food and attentive service
Yama Momo had stopped their "all you can eat" lunch on Sundays and instead provided a set menu at the same price £20pp. Personally this was much preferred by me and my party. The restaurant and eating experience was less frantic and a more enjoyable experience. The salt and pepper squid (not so japanese admittedly) was our favorite starter. All the maki (rolls) were excellent - salmon skin the best; and the mains excellent. We topped up with a sashimi platter. The portions are a decent size and we didn't need anything else. Service was prompt for food and drinks. We'll go again.
One of our favourite places to eat, great staff and outstanding food. Our kids also love eating there as the choice accommodates there tastes as well as more adventurous pallet. Highly recommended
The food is delicious and the lunch menu is tremendous value. Choose 1 appetizer, 1 main, and 1 sushi for £20. If there is a small group of you, all chose differently and you can try a bit of everything. Highly recommend the buns, tempura, teriyaki chicken, pork belly, and the tuna truffle mayo sushi.
Even though we weren't seated immediately and the service was slow or forgetful at points, the overall food and experience is worth the visit.
Staff were friendly and courteous. Food arrived quickly and was pretty good. It was very busy and just Tuesday night.
This is one of my all time favourite restaurants, whether for date night or friends night out. Food is always fantastic and the cocktails are AMAZING! Priced mid range so not the cheapest but great value overall and portion sizes are good. I would particularly recommend the scallops starter, spicy edamame beans and tofu with truffle and mushrooms for veggis or pork belly for carnivores :)
The food just wasn't very good, not fresh, oily... OVER PRICED
Booked as a surprise for my girlfriend on her birthday. We were both blown away by the food and cocktails, and by the end of the meal we were deciding what to have next time we visit!
Excellent food and service ! Really bad selection of sale and drinks are exorbitant !
Love this place, it’s great to have such a good Japanese restaurant locally. Love the black cod.
As a family Japanese theme restaurant the quality is fine. As authentic quality Japanese food there is a lot which could be criticised. I
I've been meaning to visit for a long time but moved out the city before I got the chance. When it was time to select somewhere for my friend's bday treat I jumped at booking here and it lived up to the anticipation! From when we walked in we was greeted out of the rain with smiley faces and welcomed to sit at the bar whilst we waited for a new table (as we decided last minute we didn't wish to sit by the door as we had reserved - the summer night wasn't feeling summery at all!) After we ordered cocktails from the friendly bar staff our table was ready (very quickly) and we sat down to amazing food all night. Cocktails and food were delicious and new to my taste buds! When asked if it was a special occasion, I embarrassed my friend by saying yes and they brought out the dessert with the whole staff singing along! My friend defo enjoyed the cute chefs who you can see from where we were seated ;) I will defo be returning!
