Yauatcha City opened in May 2015 in Broadgate Circle, just outside Liverpool Street Station. This is Yauatcha’s second UK location following the success of its award winning restaurant in Soho.

Yauatcha City is an all-day dim sum teahouse, where friends and family gather to catch up over a wide selection of dim sum, wok dishes, tea and cocktails. To complement the cuisine, the drinks menu comprises nearly 40 types of tea, as well as cocktails inspired by Chinese ingredients and a broad wine and Champagne list.

Yauatcha’s first standalone patisserie, Yauatcha Patisserie, is located just below the restaurant, where Chinese heritage and modern European cooking techniques have inspired the pastry team to create a range of unique macarons, petits gateaux and chocolates.

Table outside the toilets ...

It took me 5mins with frustration to find the right entrance even I’ve been there before. Don’t understand why they lock the the other door. Very noisy, I can hardly hear my friend over the arm long table. and service was below average... all waiters who walked by smiled to me which is good but the guy who serves is rough, not considerate. Albeit Food is great.

Food was good but based on this experience not as impressive as sister restaurant Hakassan. Service was rather variable but staff were engaging and made it an enjoyable dining experience. Certainly plan to return.

The food was honestly not that great compared to Yauatcha Soho. And the place wasn't really that clean as well. Wouldn't come back again.

We had the tasting menu - dim sum was particularly good. The only thing letting down the place was the service - not particularly attentive and not at the level that I expected from this restaurant.

I liked the Yauatcha Soho and thought would give the City one a go. This has a lovely setting and I thought the ambience is slightly better than the Soho one. We went for Tou Chan set menu and thought the food is a little hit and miss.

Dim Sums are unique and innovative, as well as tasty and very well presented. Especially the venison puff, the pastry simply melts-in-mouth and very buttery. For main, we had Chill Prawns and Black bean ribeye, the prawn was simply steamed with minced garlic, some chilli and coriander, it was too simple. Ribeye is good quality meat, but the sauce wasn't an authentic fragrant black bean sauce. Baby bak choi wasn't the best quality of bak choi. Dessert was slightly damaged during display, but still pretty on its own, good combination of flavours but missing the wow factor.

I think paying for a slightly higher price tag for Chinese food, I just expected a little more from them. Some dishes seem a little too ordinary. Service was good but started slacking when it got busy.

The best Chinease we've ever had. Very professional waiting staff. Lovely venue. Only criticism, the music was different to what I was expecting and at times a little intrusive.

We had a fabulous meal on Saturday night, the service is great, the food quality excellent and the wine list choices just suited our needs. The setting is also good being quiet but in the heart of The City area. I imagine it must be really busy in the week. We loved it and will return when next in London. It is a high quality food restaurant we were very impressed.

The food was good albeit not outstanding. Competent would sum it up. But the service felt impersonal, a bit rushed and the restaurant was noisy. We thought it pretty expensive for what it offers - £114 for two with limited alcohol.

Way too busy, felt rushed and service was poor. Waiter dropped tray and crashed into the wife's leg. Noting like Yauatcha in Soho, which is more cosy and better service.

We booked a table for 4 and we were later for 10 minutes because of the traffic jam on Friday. The reception lady told us to wait at the bar first for up to 10 minutes and would notify us ASAP when the table is available. We were then simply forgotten - we waited up to 25 minutes, during which the waiters kept coming and ask if we want to take the the table at the bar instead of a normal table. We required for may times and we were finally settled at a normal table. When we started to order, again no one answered us... Two of the waiters even ignored us...

I might either be getting too old and too used to the London dining scene but this was pretty much a déjà-vu dining.

Dimmed lights, super noisy place, you’re being taken to the bar to order a few drinks first because your table isn’t quite ready yet...

Food was ok though I am on a none gluten diet at the moment and there were only 3 options available on the menu for me to choose from. The head waiter was apologistic and said it was something they were working on. I can eat gluten usually though not at the moment. So not a biggie for me but so many people don’t eat it today so I assumed a restaurant of such standing (as it claims) would have had this figured out a longer time ago. But it turned out I was wrong.

My friends enjoyed their dinner but all said it wasn’t worth the price.

Service was so-so though to befair, the poor waiters seemed understaffed. The only thing that didn’t take long was bringing the bill...

Been to Yauatcha soho a few times and loved it. I liked the city one, however, the service was so slow. We had been sat at our table for 50 minutes with no starters. We pointed it out but and our food promptly came. When it arrived it was good.

Unfortunately we had a table right at the back of the restaurant and it was extremely warm. I appreciate that it was unusually hot weather but there appeared to be next to no air conditioning. Our table was often swimming in water as the waitress clearly had a lot of tables to cover and was under time pressure, so was not too accurate with the water jug. Not the end of the world but when the liberal pouring started to affect our wine I was a little irritated. Being right underneath a speaker it was hard for a table of 6 to have much of a conversation. On a positive note the food, as always, was delicious. The Har Gau and the King Crab Dumplings are the best!

Great food (we had the dim sum set menu) - the last / main course was perhaps a little disappointing, erring on the side of quantity (too much) over quality; but certainly not to spoil a really great meal. It was a bit too warm in the restaurant (admittedly a very hot day outside), and my one gripe is that the availability of iced / chilled tap water was so pathetic (empty small glasses took ages to be refilled with room temperature water and after we use the generous initial serving of ice it wasn't replenished) that we eventually felt obliged to order a bottle of still water.

This is probably my favourite restaurant in London and tend to go there at least once a year for their Supreme Saturday menu.

I was very disappointed to see that, last time we went, the after-meal cocktail was no longer included and the portions were much smaller. Obviously the price stayed the same.

The food is great, but I feel cheated.

The food is great but the service is not. We arrived on time having booked a table for three only to be given a table for two. The whole restaurant was already very busy at 12:30 and gave the impression of being quite chaotic. Having obtained a larger table we then waited ages for our food with a particularly long wait between the starters and the mains. I'd allowed two hours ten minutes for the lunch before I had to leave to catch a train from Liverpool St Station. Due to the poor service that was insufficient and I had to leave my guests with their coffees after paying and rushing for my train having had insufficient time to have a coffee myself. It was also very noisy which made conversation harder. Its not somewhere I'd return to notwithstanding the excellent food. If they want to charge £60+ per head for lunch then they need to up their game as far as service is concerned. Not everyone has two and half hours to spare for lunch!

The food is superb but service was very poor. We'd booked weeks ago for a table for 5 for a work dinner but were squashed onto a table for 4. Despite ordering the set menus, food came out at random intervals and we struggled to get drinks ordered. It's a beautiful restaurant and the food is lovely but haphazard service would stop me booking it again for a business meal.

We had the £35 tasting menu in which you get a few dim sum to start, followed by a rice, vegetable and main dish, and then two desserts to share. The dim sum was excellent, the mains and the desserts were just so so. The staff didn't seem all that clued up on the deal and menu we were having, but were happy to check information and replace cold dishes etc. It was an ok experience and I would recommend it if you are in the area (but no need to make a special trip).

A very positive experience in most ways, even to trying to alleviate our dislike of musak -noise. Unfortunately we could not sit outside because of the drilling disturbance. However, hopefully the latter will terminate and we shall return.

Great evening, attentive staff and a delicious menu. We are both vegetarian and felt the food was very tasty and we were well accommodated for.

The reason for not giving it 5 stars was that I'd already specified I was there for my sister's birthday at the time of booking via opentable. I was therefore disappointed that this wasn't accounted for during my visit.

Otherwise we both had a lovely evening here and would definitely recommend it to others!
