Yauatcha City opened in May 2015 in Broadgate Circle, just outside Liverpool Street Station. This is Yauatcha’s second UK location following the success of its award winning restaurant in Soho.

Yauatcha City is an all-day dim sum teahouse, where friends and family gather to catch up over a wide selection of dim sum, wok dishes, tea and cocktails. To complement the cuisine, the drinks menu comprises nearly 40 types of tea, as well as cocktails inspired by Chinese ingredients and a broad wine and Champagne list.

Yauatcha’s first standalone patisserie, Yauatcha Patisserie, is located just below the restaurant, where Chinese heritage and modern European cooking techniques have inspired the pastry team to create a range of unique macarons, petits gateaux and chocolates.

Tried a £40 set menu which was a little bit of everything. If you do that in a group you can each have your own main and try even more. Food was excellent. We will return.

Good food and ok service. Had to keep asking for our wine glasses to be topped up. Very overpriced wine list. I normally pay £17.50 for a bottle for 2018 Chardonnay Meerlust Stellenbosch. They are charging an outrageous £64! Also the restaurant is so huge there is little atmosphere, and the toilets are at the far end, so put on comfy walking shoes for the trek.

Booked ahead, shown up 20 mins early to drink at the bar beforehand. Sat down and told our table is no longer available and there's nothing they can do. Not even an apology. Then asked why were sat at the bar when we have a table by a different staff member, very confusing and embarrassing. Great food but very unorganised, ruined our birthday celebration tbh.

We went on a business outing as most people seemed to be - around us animated conversations about doing deals were a bit overpowering and we were glad to have the late lunch as then people left and we were able to talk at a normal level of decibels.

The set lunch was fantastic and as were were in a foursome we could share all the main courses and try four of their desserts. We all particularly liked any of the items with mushroom in the dim sum, especially the fried one. There was unanimity on the chicken for the main course although it was really hard to choose as we liked them all. The chocolate dessert was wonderful but voted as a little heavy and we were glad to only eat one corner.

We are usually hard to please with a couple of foodies among us but we all voted it a definite find although we will always choose the later booking for lunch.

The receptionist upstairs needs more training on how to greet clients. Such a shame to have this weak link in what was a great service team

We arrived at the restaurant 9 minutes late and they had already give our table away (there is a 15 minute grace period). We were asked to wait at the bar until a table was ready, which was almost 30 minutes later. No apologies given.

This was a level above the usual dim sum places I visit such as Royal China.
The Prawn Cheng Feung with bean curd is a particular highlight.
A fairly big order for 3 people with no alcohol came to around £90 so it was also good value for money. Highly recommended for dim sum lovers.

The food was exceptional - both in presentation and taste. Additionally, the food arrived after ordering fairly quickly (my group attended on a Thursday evening), and the staff were professional and polite throughout. I'm personally especially pleased as I picked out the venue for our group to attend, and I got a big thumbs up from everyone :)

There was a few comments from my group about the pricing, but I'm sure to pay for the location that the restaurant is based in, I thought the prices were very reasonable.

Having had this recommended by one of our clients we were very impressed
with the standard and variety of the food.
However compared to Sushisamba, Ivy Asia and Matsuri we thought that this
was expensive and the price of the wine was extortionate.
We enjoyed the ambience and surroundings albeit the waiting staff could do
with refresher courses.

We booked a table on valentine's evening for 2130. Prior to this I was called and told that I had 45 minutes to confirm my booking with a deposit of £50. Fair enough, given that it was going to be a busy evening however I wasn't informed that the deposit was £50 per person; in the end this was no big deal but I should have been informed clearly how much was going to be taken.

We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation and was greeted by the front of house and promptly seated. The ambiance was good, with low jazz music playing which wasn't too loud to disrupt the conversation. We were informed of the set menus available for the evening (a valentine's menu and a vegan option) but decided to go for the ala carte as we did not drink alcohol and wanted some seafood.

Our orders were taken at 2131. Starters arrived promptly as we went for crab dumplings and mushroom buns, but after this our evening went downhill. It took another hour until we received our mains at 2240. Our waiter had noticed we were waiting for our food as others who arrived after us were receiving their meal's, but paid no attention. After some complaining we received our kwetio noodles and mushrooms, but our kung pao prawns were missing. "Their on they're way" basically meant they weren't until I had to pester the staff again and we received our prawns at 2300, when our sides were finished.

The food quality was ok, but similar to other reviews I found the kwetio noodles and egged fried rice to be quite greasy. The food is no similar to the fair being served at yiban.

I appreciate that it was a busy night and most of the diners were ordering the set menus, but to wait 1 hour for food is unacceptable, given that this establishment gives diners only a 15 minute grave period for their reservations. They also tried to add on service charge which I promptly challenged and had rescinded. A further 30-40 minute wait for the updated bill and we were out, finally at 0030.

It was Valentines day and I made the reservation 3 weeks in advance, as all restaurants are fully booked for such an occasion. Other restaurants let you know in advance that there is minimum charge which is absolutely fine, however, this was not the case with Yauatcha. On the day of my reservation I got a call in the morning asking me to give my card details and that they’d charge me £50 per person as a guarantee that we’d go there (and of course this would have been deducted from the final bill), but if I didn’t pay the £100 on the spot my reservation would have been cancelled. Of course there was no way of finding another restaurant on the day, especially because it was Valentines Day. The problem was not the minimum charge, the problem was the way the way they asked for it, which I found it completely unprofessional especially for a fancy restaurant such as Yauatcha.

We arrived on time, and although there was a cloakroom they didn’t ask to hang our coats, so I assumed it was full. We had to carry our heavy coats with us and squeeze through the narrow spacing between the tables. Also, I couldn’t decide between 2 cocktails, so I asked the waiter about his opinion, who was clueless. Moreover, we had to wait for more than an hour between the starters and the main dishes, something no acceptable for such a restaurant. By the time the mains arrived we were not hungry anymore. We were constantly looking for the waiter to ask for our food, but he was nowhere to be seen. I also noticed that the table next to us had to ask for the bill 2-3 times until they got it. On the other hand the food was very nice, but it was a shame we couldn’t enjoy it.
