Chinese
Yauatcha Soho, located in the heart of vibrant London, is an all-day dim sum teahouse offering a wide selection of modern authentic dim sum alongside European patisserie and an extensive range of teas, wine and cocktails.

The design of the restaurant is a modern interpretation of the old Chinese teahouse. At the same time, the lighting and seating embodies the atmosphere of a vibrant ‘chatter shop’, similar to the traditional Hong Kong dim sum restaurants.

The restaurant offers Cantonese dishes with a modern influence, with an extensive range of steamed, baked, grilled and fried dim sum such as Yauatcha’s signature dishes of Scallop shui mai and Venison puffs.

The restaurant ambience is quite dark. We knew the menu was pricey before we booked. Saying that the food is very flavoursome and the staff are friendly and attentive.

The place was quite empty due to the global pandemic which was actually nice as we have been few times and it was very noisy. This time it was pleasant and we were able to have a conversation.

We got seated at a table but been asked (in a very clumsy way by a lovely waiter) to change table as a lady sitting behind us was very uncomfortable having people 2meters away from her. We got moved somewhere else but as people were starting to arrive, we ended being surrounded and social distancing wasn't respected.

The food arrived quickly but wasn't very warm and as good as I remembered. Good thing was we got asked if we wanted to take away our left overs.
It is a bit overpriced for a few dumplings and sparkling water.

I was a big fan before but I found that the experience wasn't as great as when I came last in March.

I went years ago and I loved it but when we went Saturday it has changed a lot.....very loud and underneath masks makes it very hard to hear people. We were left at the door not knowing what to do, We got given the wrong food and we sat for quite a while without being noticed. Things weren’t explained very well at all!

Service was very appalling and really put a dampener on our night. We were rushed out at 9.50 and starters came at different times took over an hour for mains to come and were rushed to eat.

We went to use the restroom following our meal. We were then demanded to leave whilst using the restroom by a male barging into the ladies room absoloutely awful and unprofessional.

Don’t waste your money here !

My main course was overcooked with the chicken tough and tasteless. The price of water was extortionate and the service indifferent.

I went to the restaurant anticipating a great meal and came away thoroughly dissatisfied with the fare I was served.

I’ve always been a huge Yauatcha fan. I’ve celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, every days at Yauatcha and what made me return was the ambiance and the food.
I was especially keen to celebrate my birthday in a restaurant during these tough times to help out.
However as a vegetarian I was so disappointed with the choices, I might never return again.
ALL bar one option had mushrooms in them. How very unadventurous and single minded. Almost like a menu put together by someone who not only isn’t vegetarian, but quite obviously has no imagination. I understand the need for a limited menu during COVID-19 times, but please don’t become mediocre and unimaginative. Have faith, times will get better and your customers will return. Don’t serve up such a uninspired limited menu that they might never return.
Wishing the team safety and good health. We will all come out of this. Soon.

Yauatcha was my favourite London restaurant and some aspects are still good. But similar to another review we had plates taken seconds after taking a mouthful, strange as it was almost empty. The lunchtime deal was good £29 including glass of champagne but little touches such as only 1 macaroon for desert each and the green tea being charged to refill (not previous policy), take the shine off.
Their crispy duck still takes some beating though.

Fine cuisine in the modern neo-Chinese style. Excellent dim sum at the time we ate (14.00), and subtle green jasmine tea. Attentive (but not over-enthusiastic) service. Reasonable distancing, although the table alongside us was a little close. Noisy background music required slightly raised voices when ordering, and in conversation.

We were there to celebrate birthday - food was amazing as always, however the interior of the restaurant wasn’t great as I expected. I’d only been to the City one which looks nicer, I wasn’t sure if it’s because COVID the restaurant made some changes to the layout and decoration, but we were sitting on the ground floor which looks like a waiting area rather than actual restaurant, the table wasn’t comfortable and lighting wasn’t nice. It wasn’t great experience for a special occasion. However we were still happy with the food and service.

Tried the explore menu. Too many dishes required to pay an additional price; the dim sums were fine, but the staple dishes like fried rice and noodles were not worth it.

We went for Sunday lunch. The food was extremely good. We had 4 dim sum between 2 of us to start with, which was plenty as they do vary in size between 3 pieces and 10 pieces. Then 2 mains, some steamed vegetables and egg fried rice. We were pleasantly full and had no room for the desserts, which looked so good.

This restaurant has changed significantly in the few years since I last visited. The quality of food has plummeted yet the price has stayed the same. Worse than my favourite local Chinese takeaway at triple the cost. Extremely disappointed in the lack of social distancing and mask adherence by the staff despite the appearance of following guidelines with temperature test and app scanning on entry. Server would pull his mask off his face and lean over to talk to me as the music was so loud. Another hakkasan rip off it seems; concerned with making money over providing a quality experience.

Food was good overall, but we the soft shell crab dish should have been crispy which inspite of sending it back came back a little soggy.... There was no social distancing being observed within the restaurant, tables are usually very close together at Yauatcha and unfortunately this was not changed to make the venue covid secure...

Unless you are feeling charitable or someone else is paying the bill avoid this restaurant. You are not only paying for the meal and service you get, it seems you are also covering the cost of lost revenue from the pandemic. Fixed menu is full of add in prices, the so-called dessert is a thumb sized joke of a tester the supermarkets give out while trying out new products. The highlight of the food was baby pakchoi. The rest was mediocre. The three women sitting next to us were carefree about their loudness and no one bothered to warn them.

Absolutely delicious dim sum. Amazing vegan options, absolutely loved the mushroom boa and the truffle stir fried veggies. One star off because the staff kept bringing food to the wrong tables and they felt a little bit all over the place. But that was the only negative. Over all very delicious !

Until our last visit, Yauatcha was our favourite place for dim sum, sadly not anymore, the over taste of truffle oil in most of the dishes kills the flavour of prawns and lobster in the steam dishes. The music was quite loud most important it's becoming very pricey (early dinner for 2 adults and 2 small children £250) we used to pay no more than £200 for 4 adults.
