The design of the restaurant is a modern interpretation of the old Chinese teahouse. At the same time, the lighting and seating embodies the atmosphere of a vibrant ‘chatter shop’, similar to the traditional Hong Kong dim sum restaurants.
The restaurant offers Cantonese dishes with a modern influence, with an extensive range of steamed, baked, grilled and fried dim sum such as Yauatcha’s signature dishes of Scallop shui mai and Venison puffs.
Fried Chilli Squid
with oatmeal and pandan leaf
Scallop Shui Mai
Mushroom Spring Roll
with black truffle
Simply the most delicious quality dim sum and Chinese food in London.
Every bite is mouthwatering! Every flavour is a high! Every texture stands out, whether crisp, soft, unctuous or dry.
Went on a "corona night" so it was very quiet which was unusual. Service prompt and attentive.
Best cocktail every!
food reasonable with wide array of dishes but service was dreadfully slow. Food also did not arrive in unison for each course
Very average for the price. We went for the vegan menu but it was very bland. A little seasoning on vegetables can’t hurt anyone. The tofu was like slime! I’ve had better vegan food from my local Chinese for a fraction of the price. I wouldn’t return unless they changed the menu quite drastically. Maybe for meat eaters the food has had more thought and taste better.
Had to ask for early bird menu eventhough we were there in the timeframe and had specifically picked this in our booking. All tables around us had the same problem.
Service was mediocre and not worth the automatically added service charge of 13% eventhough we were table of only two at an off-peak time. Table next to us had to complain due to receiving one main course 20 minutes before the other main course.
While the food was nice, the overall experience and in particular being made to request the pre-theatre as if it was not the option we had already chosen led to an unpleasant dinner experience.
I love this place. The food is always excellent as is the service. I will continue to eat here for special occasions.
Really wonderful food and fantastic service, we will definitely be coming again.
Yauatcha is one of my favourite restaurants. We booked for the theatre menu deal, which saved some money. The dim sum starters were tasty, and the main dish portions were generous as well as delicious. Cocktails were fab too. Our waitress was also helpful.
Disappointing service - waiters were slow and made errors. Front door staff were rude
Love the food. Great service. Nice ambience. Great location
Food was great but the restaurant in soho is so small and they cramp as many people as possible in there. Two people can’t walk side by side. Service was okay, not worth the 13% service fee but okay. Ambience was nice but again crowded.
One of the worse meals I have ever had. I could not hear the waitress talking to me it was so loud and she spoke so quietly. I ordered off the normal menu whilst my friends ordered from the set menu. My main came out within 5 minutes, before my friends starters which I was not told would happen. The waitress took a plate from beneath my friends before she had finished eating her meal. When the bill came we had been charged for things we had not ordered too. This was also one of the most expensive meals I have ever eaten- 3 meals and 3 soft drinks for £175 . I do not mind spending money on fine food but we all thought the food was very average and not worth anywhere near the money we paid. None of the party would not eat here again or recommend to a friend
The staff were fantastic and the food was nice but the set up meant the service was really slow. It took half an hour to get our first drink and it didn’t get better from there
Not as sharp as it normally is, service was slow and cold at first but then got better. Restaurant seemed understaffed as tables next to us were left dirty for a while after people had left.
Toilets were very messy as well. Food as always was very good as was the wine.
Came here on a recommendation the place has a good atmosphere I definitely wouldn’t recommend sitting at the bar as you can’t see anything service was good food was as very mediocre though and not what I expected would I go again ? no definitely not a shame really as we were really looking forward to it
One of the best food.
Whenever I come to London I visit this restaurant.
Menu is diverse with fried, steam dumplings, various spring rolls, crispy duck in spring rolls/salad/Peking style, noodles and various rice sides. Main courses such as Kung Pao chicken were small and flavorful. Great hot and sour soup. Wine list is limited but adequate. Nice selection of creative cocktails. The best--order many dishes and share the bites. Highly recommended.
The restaurant, the hospitality, the food, the staffs and the service provided was immaculate! Need to visit again very soon.
I love Yuatcha - the waiter was the one that needs to be highlighted as the star of the night. Wish I caught his name but he was very professional & attentive.
The food was great as usual! Will be back
The food was absolutely delicious! However the service was pretty frosty. Firstly the waitress didn’t even smile. Then food was delivered to our table incorrectly and there was no apology when the plates were snatched away by another waitress (we knew they weren’t for us but it was the attitude between the staff that wasn’t the most comfortable to witness).
We had the pre-theatre menu which was great value for money, the black bean beef was a great size!
We did get an extra portion of rice which we weren’t charged for. Not sure if this was to say sorry for the wrong food being delivered initially.
Dear Tuffs, Thank you for your review regarding your recent visit. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your food, at the same time, we are disappointed to hear our service did not meet your expectation. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused. I can ensure you, we have spoken to the members of the team concerned and reiterated the importance of excellent service and communication. Hope this experience, will not deter you from returning to Yauatcha. Regards, Yauatcha Soho
Fabulous dim sum. Very comfortable chairs and tables. Great service and ambience. Again. The food is on point.
Had a lovely dinner at Yauatcha, will be back again!
We were made to wait at the bar albeit we were on time, there was lots of push for us to order a certain champagne, we were told multiple times we could get the venison puff for free if we ordered the champagne, I found that pretty pushy and tacky at the same time. The food was nothing like I remembered from previous visits (many years ago admittedly), dumplings were very dry and the noodles had no flavour. Even any hope for dessert was killed when the manager came over to apologize to say he was aware that we wanted to order from the patisserie (I had made a comment with the reservation) but they were sold out at 9.30pm. imagine the further disappointment when leaving we saw someone had been able to "preorder" such desserts..
In my opinion on the whole Yuatcha is the best Chinese restaurant in London - excellent quality and whilst not cheap - it’s much more value than some of the others...
They seemed very understaffed and it took forever to order the drinks and the food. More than 50% of the food arrived before anyone had received their drinks. We had to ask every time for them to fill up out glasses with the wine that was placed outside our reach.
The food was amazing though, so the kitchen did a great job!
I have been to this restaurant many, many times and always had a lovely time with great food and atmosphere. My last visit however was terrible. The atmosphere was lacking; the waiters were more concerned with talking to one another than serving; we had to chase our wine; the food came out stone cold TWICE - a very poor experience from a restaurant that prides itself as being somewhere decent. I would avoid this place from now on.
Good food but slow service. Had to remind staff to fetch the wine, water etc. However staff were polite but expected a bit more efficiency.
Ordered sea bass as the main course- was average. However the dimsum, duck and beef (ordered by my friends) were good. Desert was also very good. Not sure whether it’s a place to recommend to someone as prices are not cheap.
Having enjoyed multiple excellent meals at Yuautcha I was excited to re attend last week.
I was very disappointed with the service. There was a wait of over 20 minutes for drinks to arrive which only occurred after requesting an update.
There was a further 45 minute delay between starter and main course and again I had to ask for an update due to the delay. Afterward I had to ask for dishes to be removed. Other diners seemed to have a similar slow experience.
The food was varied and tasty though the overall experience was let down by the inattentive service and did not feel special.
Given the compulsory service charge I had hoped that the waiting staff would enquire if the meal had been enjoyable but there was no such interest or request for feedback.
Overall the experience felt impersonal and did not justify the £75+ per head. I have previously recommended to friends and colleagues in the past but would be reluctant to do so in future.
Dear Andrew H, Thank you for your review regarding your recent experience here in Yauatcha Soho. We take great pride in customer satisfaction and work to ensure that every guest feels special at Yauatcha, I must apologise that this did not happen during your visit. Your review has been passed to the management and I can ensure you this is not our standards and we will investigate this matter further. We hope that this experience will not deter you from coming back. Regards, Yauatcha Soho
Extremely over priced and average food. Honestly not worth it.
3 friends and I had lunch here and opted for the £40 per head menu.
My only gripe with the menu is that the sea bass portions were quite small, although tasty. We opted to share the 2 beef dishes, duck salad and sea bass. The duck salad was very good as was the beef. The little pak Choi was delicious.
Impressed with the how dessert was presented. Typical Japanese style being a delight for the eyes and the taste was good too. Chocolate bar was very rich. In all very good. Wine was quite expensive. Service was ok.
Food quality good however service really bad for a restaurant. Staff lost our coats as they didn’t put them in the assigned cloakroom but dumped them in between diners eating. Took 20-30mins to locate them and didn’t offer much of an apology.
The food isn’t as good as it once was. The sea bass and chili dish is unbalanced. A mild fish served with a fierce chili sauce? The duck salad is tame and I exciting. The Theatre Menu offers the best value but that’s served Monday-Thursday 5-7pm. We ate there Friday evening. The noise level was uncomfortably high. The music doesn’t help to create any positive ambiance. It’s certainly not a place to talk and forget about a romantic evening. It’s best for dim sum during the day.
Good food, slow service, decent vibe, friendly staff
The overall experience was good (but not great), same as the food. We've had to wait 20 minutes for the table with reservation and this was a bit annoying. The concept is nice but I believe they can do better!
Good experience, basement is louder than upstairs however. Service could have been marginally warmer, but the food was terrific.
Pricey, but you get what you pay for.
I remembered Yautcha as the best restaurant in London, I brought a friend who was visiting London for the first time, and it was a complete disappointment. The service was terrible, We waited a long time between dishes, and the food was not as good as I remembered
Stylish, elegant oriental cuisine and altered the signature menu for a dairy allergy without any hassle (we did warn in advance to be fair!), but good fun and buzzing atmosphere.
As always, the food is outstanding and the venison puffs remain the most delicious thing I have ever eaten in my life! Ambience, buzz all perfection. Anna who runs the bookings is an angel in disguise and always manages to find a solution to your needs! I just wish the whole 2 hour limit per table wasn't a 'thing' that you are reminded of during dinner, but at the end of the day they are always full so my campaign for this not to be an issue you are reminded of, will always fall on deaf ears! BEST FOOD IN LONDON
Still my favourite restaurant, absolutely amazing food. Wine is more expensive than I’d want to pay. Service was and always is great. One big negative but EASILY changeable was the volume of the music. Way too loud, would’ve been ok for a Chilled bar but too loud for people having a meal out wanting to chat.
The dim sum was great and the wine selection was impressive!
Exquisite dim sum and pastries in a elegant modern setting. Staff is professional and attentive. A bit pricey but this is top food in central Soho. Would recommend for a special occasion!
