Booked for a quick meal prior to an event at The Palladium. We were on a limited timeframe which the restaurant was aware of and they ensured that our food was served within this. The food was absolutely delicious. Only one slight hiccup in that we had eaten the beef and chicken by the time the rice and noodles arrived (due to some problem in the kitchen). Would highly recommend this restaurant and will return.
Waited for 2.5 hours and didn’t have the set lunch dessert. There was hair in the tea. My friend is vegetarian but she was served a chicken dumpling. Many mistakes and there was apology but not a pleasant experience.
Excellent food, wine and atmosphere. They made an error with the main course where they served the main course dishes before the rice and choi sum. We were informed by the manager that we'd have to wait a few minutes. I complained to say that I wasn't happy and I asked for another dish to make it right. They happily agreed and it was all good again. The desserts were okay and the service was okay too. I found a couple of the waiters friendly and helpful but a bit 'coarse' or slapdash in their manner, which didn't befit the standard of the food or the establishment. I'd return again as the food, atmosphere and the willingness of management to please customers is great. If the staff pick up their waiting tables game in terms of the art of service the next time I return then they'll get a full five star review.
I have been here twice but this time was disappointed. We chose set-menu. The duck wrap was burned and the dishes too toooo tooooo salty! We didn't finish. Personally still prefer the previous set menu and the value was not worth .
Sorry, but I don't think I will go again.
Very rude and misleading staff
Hadn't been for years and it is every bit as good as I remembered. Between four of us, we ordered quite a lot of dishes and every single one didn't disappoint.
Simply delicious and authentic dim sum in a stylish and modern setting.
Ambience and food were good overall and as expected given our previous visits, however we received our last dish (soft shell crab) with a bit of a delay and the it was cold and not crispy at all. When we informed our waiter his response was: I'll speak to the manager and take it off your bill. No apology and we were not offered to get the dish again. Very disappointed with the service this time.
We arrived early and as requested by the invite had post dinner drinks, unfortunately we had to stand at the bar as no chairs available.
However the service was good and the food excellent so would definitely recommend.
Waiter did not seem very happy to look after us. Reservations have me wrong information. Sorted out in the end but was uncalled for.
The food was really good. However, I feel that the doggy-bag ban is somewhat unjustified with Chinese food. I went with a group of friend to celebrate the Chinese New Year. It's a special day and we ordered a variety of food. There was some leftover peking duck and the restaurant refused to let us take it away and explained that it's a Michelin star restaurant policy.
I simply hate food waste and find the explanation put me in an uncomfortable position. I found it unjustified especially for food like peking duck which won't go off for at least another day.
Unattentive service probably because the restaurant was packed, our table was about 30cm next to another (trying to ram in as many customers as possible) it was also very noisey so there was not a nice ambience to the place.
The food was ok, there are much better places for dim sum in London not to mention much cheaper too. Didnt like the fact they added a discretionary service charge to the bill (which u can get them to take off) we will decide if you deserve a tip.
Overall it feels like they are trying to be too highend , poor service, ambience and average food, really cant recommend it.
My date and I booked the restaurant as Time Out recommended it, promising a cool atmosphere and reasonable prices. Neither was the case. We had five dim sum and two vegetable items, plus one bottle of Whispering Angel rosé wine. The dim sum and vegetable dishes were competent or adequate, but unsensational and, in our opinion, not as good as dim sums we've had recently in South Kensington at half the price. We were also astonished at the cost (£59) of the wine, and would have expected it to be half that, as we have found elsewhere for the same wine. Our wine steward was also resistant to leaving the bottle at our table and, when finally persuaded to do so, had no idea how to use an ice bucket properly. With regard to the atmosphere, we found the basement too hot and too noisy, with the background music perceptible only as an annoying, steady thump. The final bill, including 13 per cent service, came to £160, for which I would have expected an excellent experience. Unfortunately, we rated ours somewhere between fair and poor.
I love the food there, specially the steam rice in lotus leaf, tasted exactly like the one back home! However, I’m quite disappointed with the service and environment. Tiny space and noisy environment. It’s quite difficult to call a waiter or waitress when I need something. I had been waited for half an hour even though I had already booked in advance. I booked a table for two at 2:30pm, and we only started to order food at 3:00pm.
The group dining menu is excellent and gives you a lot of choice. The venison puff was a personal favourite!
Food ok though expensive. Special birthday celebration for my wife thoroughly spoilt by the restaurant's poor communication. Booked a table for 22.30 as a post theatre treat, was told that we couldn't be late as last orders were at 22.45 and the kitchen wouldn't be able to accommodate us. As a result we left the show we went to see a few minutes early and rushed to the restaurant, becoming very stressed in the taxi because of the heavy traffic caused by Chinese New Year in London.
Managed to get there on the dot of 22.30, stressed and breathless, to be told that we need not have rushed as last orders were in fact 23.15. I emailed to complain that our evening had been spoilt as a result, but have not had the courtesy of a response.
Everything we had was delicious - we shared everything. Good service and the table was ready on time. We had cocktails at the bar first which was great. Quite expensive but fair because it was good.
I really enjoyed the ambience and food which is very different to the normal Chinese restaurants .
Some of the best Chinese I have had. Great service
This restaurant came highly recommended - arrived at correct time for reservation - table wasn't ready so asked to go the bar - ordered drinks, and the barman gave the wrong drinks to the wrong person - I don't drink but was given a vodka tonic instead of a lime soda ( barman didn't know what soda was ) - so not a great start
Then shown to table - waited quite a while to order - when we did - service was quite slow - time between starters and mains was too long - didn't want to rush it by any means, but was slow - cant criticise the food - it was excellent - really good, but felt as if we were waiting quite a long time - when a drinks order was finally taken from the table - it didn't arrive - had to be chased up 20 minutes later - so certainly a few issues, which took away from the quality of the food - was expensive as well for what it was I found, but maybe that is just London prices nowadays
