The design of the restaurant is a modern interpretation of the old Chinese teahouse. At the same time, the lighting and seating embodies the atmosphere of a vibrant ‘chatter shop’, similar to the traditional Hong Kong dim sum restaurants.
The restaurant offers Cantonese dishes with a modern influence, with an extensive range of steamed, baked, grilled and fried dim sum such as Yauatcha’s signature dishes of Scallop shui mai and Venison puffs.
The Taste of Yauatcha menu is designed for two people to share and is offered from Monday to Thursday between 2pm and 6pm for £28.88.
Friday and Saturday 12:00 to 22:30
I would not dare to venture to this restaurant. The food was way overpriced and lacked a lot of flavor. Granted, we did not try everything on the menu. But what we did have was not good at all or filling. We left being very disappointed and feeling like we had been ripped off. The waitress we had took about 25-30 minutes to even come to us and say anything. She did not ask if we wanted anything to drink or an appetizer to start. She was not friendly or inviting. I had to tell her what I wanted to drink instead of being asked. I also had to wait another 25 minutes to get an order in. After it was all said and done, we got the bill. The bill had a discretionary service charge by our waitress for a tip that she did not deserve. It was higher than the normal tip percentage. Also, there was a mandatory donation to a local charity. Which I did not mind doing, but would like to have had the option to do so. I wanted to write a review that was forthright and to the point. I was hoping for a better experience with the amount of good reviews I found. I will never be coming here again and would not recommend this to anyone looking for a place to enjoy a nice meal with a loved one or with friends. Please search elsewhere.
hi there, I thought the food was excellent! but the service wasn't as friendly and professional as I would have expected, it didn't match the super high quality of the food. Also, I was there at 6pm Saturday, I think the music was too loud for that time of the evening when it was hard to hear each other
Been here 3 times before. And for me considered to be one of Londons best chines kitchens. But this time it was a disappointment. Service was not paying attention. And forgot to bring us drinks. Even after reminding them. Food was more average than top of the best.
Food is flawless, drinks were flawless and the service is amongst the best in the industry. We had our first Anniversary here and it’s also where I asked my girlfriend to Marry me so this is now a very special restaurant to us. Thank you very much for the wonderful food and timeless memories 😘😘😘.
Second visit...vibrant, noisy and full of energy...service superb and attentive. DimSum amazing as well as desserts. Mains not at the same level. Party of 4 all had Tou Chan set menu. Suggest Ala Carte next time...will definitely return.
Top-notch, highly distinctive Chinese cuisine. Excellent, attentive service.
For the price, had better. This restaurant is not as good as the recently closed Hawaii restaurant by the same name.
Once again, a lovely atmosphere. Food is unrivalled- I look forward to visiting again!
They need to have proper chopsticks, not disposable ones. For high priced restaurant having disposable chopsticks does not make the restaurant 'high priced'.
We went for an early dinner. We tool one of the menu plus the crispy duck. The crispy duck was great. Te dim sum and deserts were also great. Main courses on the fixed menu are not at the standard of the restaurant. So, I suggest that if you know what to order - go for a lot of dim sum and avoid the main courses like pork sweet and sour
Lady who served us was a credit to your restaurant, blonde lady she was great and real positive tonyour establishment. Me and my wife was there and a group of 5 rowdy impolite men dropped a glass and was so rude. She handled it impeccably
A wonderful restaurant which I continue to return to as my go-to place for Dim sum.
Great food overall, tasteful and colourful dim sums, all dishes cooked to perfection.
However music was way too loud, I had to shout to my partner to be able to talk. Service polite but not attentive, not what I expect from a Michelin star.
We were originally seated at an upstairs table. it was a special occasion and we requested a seat downstairs. the front of house were very polite and accommodating and swiftly moved us to a preferred location downstairs. this was much appreciated.
Very good. More than lived up to its reputation. Great Dim sum
It’s our go to place
We shared one of the set menus for lunch and found it to be excellent. A great tasting of different dim sum and tasty mains. Really a great value for an upscale restaurant. Had a nice bottle of wine with it. Lovely place. Will definitely return.
Consistency is king here. Many many visits have gone by and I still love it. Delicious super tasty
Most vegetarian dishes had Garlic and chef could not make any dishes without garlic on the day . Shameful as my wife cannot take garlic .
A little shameful for such a great restaurent.
Ordered the taste of yauatcha. There was both variety and taste, macarons and tea were included too! Value for money and good for gatherings over dimsum with tea.
Have been coming here for years as is usually a decent bet. The service has taken a huge turn for the worse.
Took over an hour to get our food after we ordered, only to then be rushed by our waitress about 20 minutes into getting our meal, stating they needed the table back. They also just didn’t bring one of the dishes we ordered. When I raised this to the waitress she rudely asked “are you sure?!”
Barely any apologies from the manager that evening and I demanded for the service charge to be taken off.
Go elsewhere if you’re in the area. Plenty of good Asian restaurants nearby at the same price point that will not leave you offended and angry.
I went with a friend who is living in Guangzhou China where is the dim sum originally from , she said Yauatcha's food is very authentic and fine made. But the Shanghai Xiao long bao we waited about 40 minutes which usually takes 20 min to be ready.
Have wantde to go here for a while , underwhelmed by it all
Delicious Chinese food. Some of the best DimSum I have had outside of Hong Kong. Great atmosphere and great service. I will definitely be back.
Excellent food, outstanding service, best cocktails, noisy
We've been coming to Yauatcha Soho regularly since its opening, and also visit the branch in the City. Up until this visit the level of service has always been exemplary, friendly, and flawless.
On this visit however, it was a mixed bag. One of our waiters was fine, but another was surly, rude, and heavy handed. Neither was the standard we were used to.
It slightly ruined what was meant to be a special evening.
The food was, as always, superb.
poor service. poor waiting by staff....I had to look all the time to grab someone attention.
I regularly visit city branch and soho is poor.
Why would you take away a bottle of wine we ordered and keep it to one side of the restaurant? what if someone contaminates or poisons it...where is your health and safety? and we have to keep asking for it every time our glasses get empty.
I spent 350 for the 3 of us and your service or your price does not derserve this.
Please reply as I am very unhappy
There were 6 of us for a business/pleasure get together and introduction and we were recommended by one of our family members. It was a Saturday evening so we were expecting it to be busy...however. We arrived a little early and had a drink in the bar and waited for everyone to arrive. The rushing started then being repeatedly asked to go to our table despite that we were not all there. We were shown downstairs to a small corner table which would JUST MANAGE to seat 4 there were 6 of us it was exceptionally cramped with around 3 to 4 inches between our table and the table next to us...getting out was a round of contortionist moves and apologising to the adjacent table. An indication of how cramped it was, there was VERY little room on the table and the waitress knocked over a cocktail as food and cutlery arrived. Again rush, rush, rush, as we approached the end of the '2 hour time slot' constantly being reminded that the next course needed to be finished and plates being removed as soon as they were empty. Finally the noise...despite the small table we could not hear each other the noise from the staff and the kitchen and the close proximity of the other tables was just too much. We won't be going back and wouldn't recommend this restaurant it is expensive, noisy, rushed and cramped.
The food was amazing and the service was fantastic, would recommend it to anyone who appreciates good food.
Always a treat coming here. Service and food are ace.
Good and interesting food.
Great and pleasant service
We have been a number of times to this restaurant in Soho, always good food, and helpful staff.
The location used to be lovely ,But the street outside has been ruined with so much going on you can hardly see the restaurant doorway .
Can't hear myself thinking, can't have a conversation, waiting too long ta have our table
We ordered the dim sum menu. Food was descent but service was bad. Perhaps because we came at 14:00 but we did not enjoy the experience.
We have set menu 48 pound the starters was excellent but the main course nothing special really put our experience down And the service really have to step up the section were we was sitting was straggling that was what the waiter told us but was plenty of stuff to other sections and when we had problems with food because they bring wrong main and they said was no more squids but nobody tells us nothing before so we have to stick with that we try don’t was our taste and waitress not near us so have to call waiters from different sections and she pass to manager but looked to busy to give attention so we had to call him again and finally he short out but the experience was go down already when you pay the price for high standard you want that service Hope this is only one off but unfortunately I found some people got some experience
The food was delicious
The dishes were special and the taste was wonderful
The restaurant itself is beautiful and I absolutely recommend to friends and family
Was recommended by a friend who frequents Yautcha often when on his business trips.
Obviously there were expectations. Ordered a couple of dim sum : rice rolls was great, prawn pork siew mai was ok-ish but the siew long pau was not good - topskin dried up real fast n was starting to harden back n less than 10mins of standing
Had to let the glutinous rice ‘breathe’ a little as it was a tat soft when it arrived hot
The raspberry deluxe was divine - tat ended my meal well n with a sweet note - pun intended.
Not sure abt the acid washed disposable chopsticks though 😜
My family and I really like this resaturant. The food is great, the service is good, and the decor etc is very funky. However on this visit I was a bit annoyed that we had to wait 35 minutes for a table we had booked, showing us to the bar somewhat gave the impression that this was a way oif selling more cocktials. Noe was there any recognition of our wait in the bill.
Amazing place with amazing food! High recommended!
Fair but poor value
