The service was disappointing. No attention. Clueless waiter. Complained to management and they didn’t seem concerned. The food was so good, though.
What a total disaster. That’s all one can say....total disaster. It’s hard to put into words how bad the food and overall experience was. I wrote an entire thesis and just erased the whole thing so here is my commentary in a nutshell:
I have been using Opentable since it’s inception in the year 2000. I have 19 years of Opentable booking experiences and have been a VIP diner for all 19 years as I eat out quite a bit. My experience at this restaurant was the single
WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY 19 YEAR OPENTABLE CAREER. MY ADVICE IS TO PASS ON THIS RESTAURANT AND FIND ANOTHER PLACE.
Terrible food. Non existent service. Then buying an apology drink and trying to charge us for it....totally unforgivable. Don’t bother.
On my second visit again the food was very mediocre lacking flavour. Each dish had red peppers.
However waiters were polite and efficient.
Love the food at Yauatcha, and thought it would be a great place for a group. 7 of us had dinner downstairs in what can only be described as a REALLY, LOUD ROOM... The food was fantastic, though, and a good meal was had by all. Will definitely go back, but will perhaps seek out a slightly quieter restaurant for the next large gathering.
Incredibly poor service from the table not being ready on time to disinterested waitress. Staff paid no attention when we wanted more water / to pay the bill etc and had to wait 3 or 4 minutes for someone to come to the desk to go and get coats at the end of the evening. Really expected better
Always amazing. If you love Dim Sum I 1000% recommend to anyone!!
Delicious food and best duck I've ever had. Can't wait to return
We had a wonderful experience! The food was excellent, the atmosphere was fun and our waiter was really really nice and patient. I will recommend for sure! Already did 😉
My girlfriend said this will be the most incredible meal you will ever have boiiii was she right! Those chicken and prawn dim sum were like eating unicorn popcorn drizzled in a caramel sauce topped off with an explosion of wildfire flavour of intense prawnlinessness... man was this meal crazy good... we paid it from our euros we saved coming back off holiday! Thanks another story of it own! But we recommend this place big time!! Peace out R&A
Made a reservation for one at the bar and was offered the couches. I took it expecting it to be... Good enough but it certainly was not. You get a small coffee table at the place others sit to wait for their table. It was incredibly uncomfortable both in general and for your back due to the height of the coffee table. I asked for a spot at the bar immediately and I guess my reservation disappeared into the void during the 5 seconds I was at the couches. This meant that I had the pleasure of a meal in an uncomfortable place that the ac had trouble reaching with other people's feet right next to my table trying to eat. I do not even remember how anything tastes so it certainly was not memorable.
I wish to leave a very special thank you note for your waitress Rachel. She made our evening. She was so very attentive and helpful and super efficient- people like her make places and an evening. So thank you Rachel.
The food was delicious but service was really disappointing. My friend wasn’t shown to our table. She was the first to arrive and the host took her downstairs and then pointed rather than taking her to a table.
We weren’t offered a drink, despite one being included in our booking. We had to call our hostess back and ask her about drinks.
Our main dish was served before we finished starters, despite us asking for more dipping sauces (3 times) for the dim sum. Staff were generally unfriendly and avoided eye contact, apart from two managers who were more professional. I will come back, as the food was great but hopefully the service will be better next time.
Enjoyable, accommodating and tasty. Fantastic evening- thank you
Been going to Yauatcha for years and recently feel the quality and level of service has dropped. The waiting staff appeared to forget we were there for quite a while and we had to get their attention most of the time. An item from our order didn't arrived and we'd finished all our other dishes. We ended up taking it off the bill but it would have been good if they warned us this dish would be longer than the others. No sure if the kitchen had simply forgotten it.
Everything was excellent!
This was not the Yauatcha I recognise. More train station than high-end eating.
Too many covers, not enough time for turn-around & a hurried experience when seated.
Food acceptable but lacking the trademark sophistication. Disappointing.
This is a hip, buzzy, loud, very popular restaurant. The food was fantastic. The wine choices were excellent and reasonably priced. It's on Broadwick St near Poland St and there are lots of cool restaurants in the vicinity. I was glad that we had made a reservation as the restaurant was turning away lots of people. We enjoyed our dinner.
Had £60 Signature menu. It was rushed to the point we had 3 dishes on our tiny 'bar' space at once. We could barely move our arms to eat without knocking our drinks over. It was very obvious to our server that the food was coming to fast but clearly nothing was said to the kitchen. Its was a every expensive meal for me (I'm not a wealthy tourist but an NHS nurse). The meal was treat for my girlfriends 30th birthday. We are foodies and know what is good and what is not. Quite frankly the food was average. High end price and an experience no better then waggamumas. Disappointed to say the least.
We always joke about that we go from Stockholm to London only to visit Yauatcha. It is the best Asian restaurant in the world. Lovely settings, friendly service and superb food. And reasonable prices. We strongly recommend it!
Great service. Fantastic food I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.
Lush cocktail, the food was great but service was a bit on the slow side.
Lovely for casual dining or a special occasion. Service is outstanding, attention to detail and genuine, professional attention. Took our 3 year old twins whom they were very accommodating and attentive to.
Food is always great. Service appropriate as well
I thought I’d been teleported back to the early noughties with the decor. Blue lights, fish tanks etc. An ironic, but remarkable take on restaurants of that decade.
And then the appalling service. A waiter who only appeared to bring food; never offer water. Then, like a ghost, he’s gone (again).
The food was decent overall albeit gristly sweet and sour pork. A disappointing waste of £150 - wish we’d waited for that table in Duck and Rice next door.
A very disappointing meal and service. I had previously visited the restaurant several years ago when it had first opened. The quality of food and service back then was faultless and of an extremely high standard. I had therefore been enthusiastic about visiting again. However, this time the food and service were a huge let down and the high cost of the food in no way justifies the taste and presentation. I could get the same quality food from my local takeaway.
The food here is fabulous but totally spoilt by the fact that the restaurant rams you in like you are in a cheap diner and pays scant attention to service. We took a friend to celebrate a special birthday and were given a tiny table in a very over-crowded part of the restaurant. We asked (politely) if we could move and were very rudely rejected. Whilst I love the food - I don't think we will be back. When I am spending over £50 a head, I expect to be treated with a little courtesy.
Love this restaurant! Moved from the UK 10 yrs ago and always come to Yauatcha. Amazingly consistent quality of food, service and cool ambience over that period. Already looking forward to our next visit.
Great Dim Sum, reasonable prices, but hilariously expensive drinks. When a main course is £15 and a bottle of sparkling wine is £90, you are in for a surprise!
Excuse me but the noise was so big that I can’t appreciate nothing in my plate.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere great. The staff were lovely - although a couple of items had to be chased but aside from that i could not fault the evening and will certainly return sometime soon.
I was really expected to be amazed by Yauatcha Soho, a one star Michelin restaurant making dim-sum, one of my favourite food of all. Well, they deliver on the price tag for sure however the rest was so disappointing. Service was just on the age of rude with a less than average litchi martini pushed on us followed by some nice steamed dim-sum but no work on the sauce, just your basic burn mouth hot sauce and soya sauce. The baked dim-sum were nothing special, again no sauce. The ambiance was very stuffy, more like a industrial canteen definitely not a one star michelin.
Yauatcha is one of our very favourite restaurants in the West End - we go for special occasions. Yes, you'll pay a little more than at an average restaurant but there is nothing average about the food, service or ambiance here. If you are lucky you will be able to grab a table during quiet afternoon periods and enjoy some of the spectacular dim sum; we have also showed up during the evening, but usually you have to book ahead. The atmosphere is sophisticated and elegant. Go along and be prepared for a treat.
I went to have lunch with my fiance,to celebrate my birthday. This was the 3th time we eat there and the worst one.We come back, because we loved it.But it seems to be change. We had a almost 2h lunch, the food took long time to arrive and the last meal of the menu, was almost cold.We had to ask the waitresses to bring the apperitive,as we saw in the other table that they came later than us,they had it.The waitress who bring the drinks, wasn't nice, she looked angry and she was serving in a rude way, without speaking and looking at waitress bringing wrong food to out table. After calling like 10 times to the waitresses, my partner had to get up from the table to ask for a spoon,as they were looking at us and ignoring us.One waitress was chewing a gum.Staff very unprofessional. I think they should change the staff there. As it is an expensive place with a really bad service. We are not coming back. There are many places better than this one.Same price better service. It is a shame, because used to be really good.
Although the food was nice and the service was mostly attentive, we were disappointed at the fact that the dishes we wanted to try were unavailable as there was a ‘problem with the steamer.’ This should have been made clear when the booking was made, as I do not expect to be let down by a restaurant of this calibre. There was also no form of apology. Moreover, the tables for two are far too close together, making it difficult to get in and out of the seats. This takes great comfort and luxury away from the overall dining experience.
Went for a friends birthday. The dessert message was well received and a lovely touch by the restaurant and staff. The food is always amazing. The only slight negative this time round was due to some items not being available but it was purely as a result of a kitchen issue and these things happen. As ever amazing food, good service and a decent atmosphere. This is why I come back and recommend regularly, much better than Hakkasan.
The food was really good but service wasn’t. It was busy but the waiters and waitresses were rude to us while they were nice to the non-Chinese customers who sat next to us. I took my friend who came from China to there as a business dinner. It was embarrassing for me. Not the service that I would expect from a 1 Michelin Star restaurant
Birthday! Wonderful service
