The design of the restaurant is a modern interpretation of the old Chinese teahouse. At the same time, the lighting and seating embodies the atmosphere of a vibrant ‘chatter shop’, similar to the traditional Hong Kong dim sum restaurants.
The restaurant offers Cantonese dishes with a modern influence, with an extensive range of steamed, baked, grilled and fried dim sum such as Yauatcha’s signature dishes of Scallop shui mai and Venison puffs.

I’ve missed this restaurant so much this year. The venison puff, pork buns and prawn toast are my favourite dishes! The lemon berry martini and margaritas are a must too

I’d been here a couple of years ago and enjoyed it but this time was hugely disappointing. Being seated on a small and wobbly table was not ideal and also being placed near to the till meant constantly being disturbed.
After having ordered drinks and having them served someone came over to ask how old my partner was and having being told their age said their colleague had told them they were 16 so they essentially called my partner a child which was quite rude and inappropriate. I’m not sure if it was intended as a private joke which the other staff member took seriously and acted on.
The food was ok but not impressive - probably the most expensive side dish of rice you could find and it was greasy, barely warm and not very pleasant. After we had finished all the food the second main had still not arrived and ultimately it took two requests and an hour from having ordered it to arrive.
It already wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience but part of the reason I chose this restaurant was for their impressive desserts. After asking for the 5 dessert selection we were told that there actually weren’t any at all so that was really the final straw. They said they would check with a manager and did manage to provide two alternative desserts but these were not impressive and essentially seemed to be a ton of cream in a jar which were sickly and not really pleasant at all. To add to that we did later see one of their regular desserts being served so I’m not sure what happened there.
Overall it was a terrible experience, very embarrassing for me having said what a lovely restaurant it was and I wouldn’t return even if they paid me. At the end there was the discretionary 14% service charge on the bill which was really insulting considering the number of issues and disappointing evening.
This was my worst dining experience for 2020. We got the vegan tasting menu and the festive tasting menu each priced at £65 per pax. We were 4 people. The festive menu was anything except festive. They overload you with a big plate of pakchoi and big bowl of rice few spread of dim sum, some sir fried chicken. The food was so much but nothing stood out. It suppose to be festive. I feel like they went to overload you with cheap carbs while holding back on trying to make the experience special for the holidays. Not worth the money at all. No wonder they lost the Michelin Star. I would give them any stars at all. The food was mediocre. The vegan menu was also few dim sum and another over load of pakchoi and some tofu dish. The desert was so minuscule. We could not eat it and had to have it packed cause they just did not leave any room for it. The rice was plain. Cummon at least do something nice with the rice. We are paying £65. I would not take any of the special menus ever again cause there definitively is not special and feel more like a robbery. I would love to have my money back to this waste of my few days before lock-down experience. It is very improper to charge people so much money to showcase thew worse food in the restaurant.

I have eaten here several times but the last two occasions have not been as good. The set menu (which we had booked via open table) was confusing and it was disappointing to see beef no longer available on this. The dumplings were still amazing but the chicken main was average. We were not given any choice for desert but presented with some which were nice but with no explanation for the lack of choice.
Super noisy and dining area downstairs is claustrophobic. Food is good (Especially if you like Good quality Asian food), but ambiance was really bad. Difficult to have a conversation due to noise, not very comfortable seating in a cramped space), and quite expensive given the overall satisfaction I had.
Great restaurant. Bao buns and dim sum highly suggested, it’s better to get a selection of those than some of the main course.

Dim sum was nice. Unfortunately the £38 menu was very poor; either too spicy or too much truffle oil and the Singapore noodles tasted worse than my local takeaway. Didn’t finish dessert as it tasted like cardboard!

Had the prosper set menu, every course was lovely, one the best chinese meals I have had. Only down side was I was with someone outside my bubble therefore had to sit outside, in December. They put heaters on but not quite the same. But I will definitely revisit. Loved the food.
Love this type of food and the dim sum are fabulous. Slightly annoying table of non social distanced men next to us that should not have been allowed but not the restaurants fault they were annoying.

I’ve grown up with Yauatcha ever since landing my first job in soho In October 2004 I have been a regular. Knowing the menu by heart and enjoying how it has evolved.
But it has lost a little of its lustre, sure prices have to rise but not long ago in early jan or feb 2020 a careful selection of three dim sum plates and 1 cocktail and service would have been £45.
Open tables guide price is currently £26-£40 - to which I say would be impossible given current prices.
Our bill was £230 with no wine and only two cocktails on 7th December 2020.
We also ordered 6 dim sum plates and two small mains and a single rice with petit-four desserts. All the dim sum plates had circa 60-80% price rises from earlier in the year
How does that even relate to guide price the open table suggest?
This coupled with service that was a little clunky, and where I knew the menu better than the staff. They may have learning the ropes for first time. But I wasn’t, and given the price I paid not satisfactory either.
A little disappointing that the chance of getting the table on the floor and position I want is always slim with this place. I was told the tables have now a bit more spaced out to comply with the covid situation but that was not true. Tables are still packed so close that you can reach over and grab the food next table when they are not looking. Size of the table is also small, with a few plates of cheung fun, steam baskets(even stack up vertically) a tea pot and a couple glasses, you will need to rush to finish so that new item can be put on your table.
Just left a little deflated as I had called and checked several times beforehand but its like my discussions with the reservations just completely on a different planet.
Having been many times before over the last 10 years, the food appears to have deteriorated. The fried squid had mostly batter and little squid, used to be better, the aromatic duck had little in the way of soft duck meat considering it costs £39, the dessert range has changed for the worse from a great selection of high quality cakes to small “gateaux” which are not as good as the previous selection. Makes one start to question whether it is worth the price...
Was really excited to try this restaurant post lockdown. Not only was the staff overwhelmed but weren’t prepared for the customer demand. Service was slow, food was badly prepared and the ambiance was hectic. I expected more since I have heard great things previously.
The door person was very unfriendly. He had a matter-of-fact attitude and made us feel unwelcome. Our congee took over 50 minutes to arrive from when we ordered it. The manager didn't handle this well - he gave an excuse and apologised impersonally.
The food is great as always, but the service let us down significantly.

We booked a table for 9pm , we were 10mins late due to traffic, we didn’t get seated until 9.40! Our table was not ready! Was made to wait in the cold until offered to be seated at the bar with a menu. No menu was given for us to scan the picture code and view menu while waiting to be seated. Finally got seated at 9.40pm just for our waiter to tell us we need to hurry up and order EVERYTHING we want to eat and drink tonight as from 10pm no order even for drinks will be accepted. We was planning to pig out and enjoy ourselves as lockdown just ended. But to not even have the option to think or decide what you want as the night goes on especially when my table was not even ready- we got the short end of the stick as paying customer’s. We ordered Hennessy the waiter just decided we should have Jack Daniels instead without letting us know there’s no Hennessy available. We literally nearly spat out the JD knowing full well this is not Hennessy he then offered the list of alternative cognacs, which should have been done at the start instead of just deciding for us paying customers who would know the difference in choice of alcohol. Then the music went off and lights came on and the bill came but yet we was missing 2 dishes we had ordered. Waiter went to check in the kitchen and they shortly came out. So we had to rush and swallow these 2 dishes to not feel like we was holding them up for closing as we were second to last customers left to leave. Eventually we did takeaway for one of the dishes and paid everything on the bill and left. Was highly disappointed but our waiter did apologies as much as he could. Food was Good and really tasty!

Dim sum was good but not worth the price! Can easily find this quality of dim sum for half the price now in London. Other reviews suggest Yauatcha has had a price hike this year - disappointing.
This restaurant maybe the only place that deliver delicious food from EVERY dishes they serve. Unconventional Dim Sum in a relaxing but chic atmosphere. Love every bites and their XO sauce was the best and generous. Great service without being timid or stingy. Very satisfying lunch for my Dim Sum cravings.
Waitress was amazing and super friendly but the door staff were quite rude. Food was incredible though.
Food and service were fantastic. The music was weird, just a constant beat with a strong bass. The music was loud and because of that people spoke louder, making it quite noisy and not as ambient and relaxing as one would want it to be, with such an expensive, delicious meal. Honestly the food was incredible, the silver cod blew my mind. Definitely recommend!
