Chef's Selection of 6 pieces sashimi with chef's selection maki
Surprised how expensive everything was but the quality of sushi was noticeably higher than other restaurants.
Always amazing fresh sushi. Cool vibe, good service.
Everything was delicious...Wasabi Tuna Roll and Pink Dragon Roll were big hits...The sashimi was super fresh and the House Sake (Drunken Zama) paired perfectly
There was a hair in one of our dishes and there was no compensation. The manager did not apologize.
Celebrated our anniversary, and mentioned that on the reservation, but nothing was ever said. They also sat us at the worst seat where we could hear all of the employee’s conversations. Food and drinks were over priced for what you get. It smelled like trash when we first got there.
We like this place BUT it just has some kind of problem producing sushi in any kind of reasonable time. We ordered as soon as we sat down and it took over an hour for most of the sushi to come out. The staff is (mostly) really nice and profusely apologetic but this happens here too often (and the staff know it). We are regular guests (live in the neighborhood) and the food, while also way overpriced, is usually pretty good. But if we weren’t too lazy to travel further away or it was easier to get a table at Double Knot, I would avoid Zama for too many frustrating and costly experiences.
It is always an amazing dinner! The food, service and ambiance are always great!
Excellent food. We enjoyed sharing a few appetizers- shrimp, and the escargot. Delicious!! Then we had shushami and sushi chef’s sampler. We enjoyed all except the eel, which was slimy.
Even the desserts were interesting and tasty. Try the cheesecake, and mango sorbet.
Really nice place for sushi! had a good time, was delicious!
Expensive, small portions, significant price increase for "top shelf" seafood.
Excellent sushi. But with the number of exceptional Omakase experiences (Royal Izakaya) the bar has been raised in Philadelphia. I would like to see Zama, which I think is still great, to raise their game.
Excellent food and service .
Best sushi place in the city! They always have the freshest fish and everything tastes amazing!
The first bad sign was that we had to wait half an hour despite making a reservation, which tells you they are bad planners. Second bad sign: I ordered green tea and they gave me tea in a bag. Do not trust a Japanese restaurant that is lazy about green tea. Sushi was ok. For dessert, the mochi ice cream was the cheap kind you buy at an Asian grocery. Terrible ambiance. Inattentive, slow service.
Zama is a great spot. The cocktail list needs to be updated.. maybe consider a flight of beers or wine
Very good ... service was very friendly
The dumplings go hard. Decent wine list but every time I order the avinyo they’re out! Which is sad. Still love this place tho
The sushi rice was hard but the fish was fresh
Zama is a restaurant I highly recommend. The ambiance is inviting and intimate, although sometimes a little loud. We always order the usuzukuri, cod, short ribs, salmon on salmon, at least a few desserts, and we are never disappointed. The server we've had the last two times in the back dining area is attentive and lovely. The cocktails, salmon skin salad, beignets, and the chocolate mousse are also delicious!
If the waiter stepped on my foot one more time, I would have screamed. I thought he was terrible and told me they don’t substitute anything in the rolls, like they would not take the jalepeno pepper out. Was not great as a server in general
This place is awesome. Second time here. Had two of the sushi appetizer - striped tiger - really good. Also had a Berkshire pork small plate - again, very good. Also had a scallop small plate (2 scallops on a risotto cake). Everything just awesome. Bottle of Paul Hobbs Chardonnay was excellent. Can’t say enough about it - we’ll be back.
Went for our anniversary with lot of expectations after reading the reviews...food was quite ordinary for the price...a bottled beer cost upwards of $10...and service was really slow...not the waitress's fault but they just didn't have enough waiters for the number of tables...every order took a long time to serve...entire space was quite cramped...there definitely are better options out there for that price.
Took my niece a college student who loves Zama. Had a fabulous lunch and were left alone to talk, enjoy our time together
The food was fantastic and the sake selection impressive.
I ordered the Kennett Square roll and it was one of the best vegetable rolls I've ever had!
Service was quick and the rest of our food was also great.
Every bite was delicious and the service was good. The bronzizzil was fresh and had a nice hit of spice at the end.
We enjoyed a variety of small and large plates and shared everything. The food was hot, well prepared and delicious. We will return again.
