Enjoyable degustation meal which is a rarity when one is kosher. Could have had an extra salad choice.

The menu sounds better than the food. The food was served like a meal prepared at home, but with no style. Although somewhat tasty, it could have been tastier. The Apple pie was a disappointment because it was not Apple pie it should have been called something different.

Lovely ‘bottomless’ lunch enjoyed with friend and family , with the percent view- the ‘beach’. Relaxing environment, and terribly child-friendly. Thanks. 🙂

Zest is a modern stylish Kosher restaurant in Hampstead, and that is its rationale. Food quality, value and the rest are secondary. But for the record the vegetable based starters were great - plentiful and delicious. The meat mains were heated up (not very successfully - my lamb was very cool) and a bit dried out. Serving meat with croutons rather than potatoes or vegetables was odd. The desserts were OK (parev, of course) and the wine was expensive, and kosher. Service was enthusiastic and the location is fun with a view of "Tel-Aviv beach" recreated outside the window. The industrial style design of the room, with a very high ceiling, inevitably is noisy. But we had a pleasant time and would go back with kosher family members.

This was a special occasion and we all enjoyed the meal very much. The food was more than adequate for us, but some people may find the portion sizes small. The service was very good and the waiting staff were very friendly. We will definitely visit again.

Very nice, quality food. Service was a little slower than we would have liked and we had to miss dessert to avoid missing the show. Expensive but no worse than other Kosher restaurants. Will definitely visit again but allow more time next time!

I really hate to write a negative review as we love Zest Cafe. Zest restaurant however needs a lot of work. They only serve roasts on a Sunday and the roasts are awful. They’re anaemic, tasteless and covered in gloopy sauce. Zest should stick to what they know - Jerusalem style cuisine. They should be trying to match the likes of the Palomar and Delamina, not serving mushy and depressing “pub grub”.

Our party of three was seated at a lovely table near to the window. The ambience was very pleasant and the noise level very acceptable. So far, so good. The food, however, had little finesse. We shared three starters, one of which was gravadlax, before checking with the waitress whether the gravadlax contained mustard. My husband is extremely allergic to mustard. She assured us that the gravadlax did not contain mustard. When I asked the waitress if she was absolutely sure, as my husband is allergic to mustard, only then did she offer to check with the chef, who admitted the gravadlax did include mustard! My husband found his next course, Salad Nicoise, "revolting". I ordered a Chicken Club sandwich - most people know what to expect with this item. However, instead of a layered sandwich comprising thinly sliced, lightly toasted bread, crusts removed, this came as a one layered crusted sandwich with a huge amount of filling. Though tasty, it was difficult to eat. The chips, however, were crisp and dainty. As our overall experience of the food was to this point very disappointing, we did not order dessert. For £72 this meal was poor value and we do not intend to dine there again.

Visited before attending a film screening at JW3

Food was variable - Lamb Koftas and the Sephardi fries were excellent - other dishes disappointed.

Relatively expensive for style of restaurant and what we had.

Lovely, relaxing ambience even though it is essentially on Finchley Road! Friendly, warm service. Stylish yet simple decor. And the food! Delicious. The menu was nicely short, giving adequate choice without being overwhelming. The kofta and sephardi fries were divine! My salt beef was tasty as was my husband's lamb. We will certainly be coming back!

Excellent food, good wine list, small but nice beer selection. My wife had the chicken with date molasses, almonds and laffa, while I had the braised lamb with mint sauce--and they were both great. For starters, we shared a really smokey babaganoush and corn fritters with turmeric sauce, and had the toffee pudding with date gelato for dessert. Altogether, it was a superb meal.

Excellent starter (corn fritters) and main (chicken with pomegranate), plus an outstanding side of "Sephardi Fries" - tangy, crispy roast potatoes. The staff, as always, were polite, patient and prompt. It's a relaxed atmosphere, cosily tucked away from the JW3 café area.

Avoid the restaurant and go to the cafe instead. Kids meals arrived quickly and they were happy but our meal took over 40mins and when it arrived the roast beef/ potatoes were tasteless, over-cooked and overpriced. Sweet corn fritters/ babaganoush starters were tasty (stale shop bought type pittas though...) but it was a whole big palava ordering outside of the set menu. Unless need to go kosher etc would avoid.

Attentive staff, delicious food which was well presented. Some vegetarian choices too. There was a relaxed atmosphere and staff were helpful to hurry food for our guest who needed to catch a plane!
The rest of us felt unhurried and unrushed.

It's kosher, it's ambitious, they always provide 'interesting' food, along lines of Yotan Ottolenghi - but by and large usually slightly disappointing. This time, sorry to say, it was cold, especially down our end of the restaurant (they said they were having trouble with the heating) and we left, and ate at Tish in Belsize Park.

The starters were exceptional.
My fish was a bit dry.
Nice place and nice atmosphere.
I was surprised that when I asked for an expresso I was told I could pay for it as part of the restaurant bill but I had to collect it myself from the café, 10 ysrds away from the restaurant.
I thought the waiter could have done this and serve the coffee at our table as in any other restaurant.

Pleasant and tasty snacks - but totally tasteless dessert. They said they did not do espresso coffee, though the bar to which the restaurant is attached (and with which they surely share a kitchen) listed espresso. We were also told they had no coffee sweeteners: only as we were leavng did we see a bowl of them on another table!

Food was ok, but not great. We were there on Christmas Day, when most places were closed, so they charged a £5 additional fee per person PLUS a service fee. This, plus high prices to start, made it quite an expensive dinner. The cauliflower with hummus was great. Sweet corn fritters were nice. Aubergine fritters were meh, just kind of gooey and fried. Salt beef was tough. All in all, not a great value for money. At half the price this review would have been much more positive.

On the occasions that I have visited Zest I have enjoyed the ambience and the food choice.
The service is good and I was able to hold conversations with friends and not be disturbed by noise!
My only request is that a coat stand or hooks should be provided on entry. It was a cold day last Monday and we had to drag our coats and scarves over chairs.
