Zizzi - Cheltenham
Food was very poor. If I wasn't with a working lunch would have sent it back.
Great location in the old church ... food and atmosphere always good..
Just a great place to go for a great time with the family
Terrible service, it was busy but still had to ask to order after 30 mins. Waitress didn’t write everything down and said she’d remember but order wasn’t complete when it arrived! Food was only satisfactory. The third waiter we had was slightly more attentive but unfortunately, won’t be returning.
Very noisy in the restaurant. We had a group of 10 but it felt like a left-hand, right-hand and middle group because people couldn’t be heard beyond their neighbour. The background noise was too much.
Some in our group ordered coffees, some ordered puddings. However the coffees arrived after people had finished their puddings. We did try to cancel the coffees when the outcome became clear but we couldn’t get hold of a member of staff. It really took the shine off the occasion.
Staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating and we enjoyed our meal.
I love the building in Cheltenham the most. The food is fab too.
Very small table shoved against a radiator, when meal came out was cold lamb was all bone and very dry.Not good value at all.
An 80th Birthday but special request message ignored
Average and bland food; nothing special
Restaurant is inside a former church so that's very cool.
Great food and great venue. I had the best salad and bruschetta. Service was good although a bit slow at times as it was so busy. The wine was nice. The building itself is super impressive and I loved it.
Set in an old church, this is a unique place. Food was very good. Huge pizza oven on what used to be the main altar. Very friendly staff and good service. I had sea bass, while others in my group had pizza. All was excellent. Desserts nice too.
Always a good time, great service and lovely food at Zizzi's Cheltenham.
GREAT atmosphere especially as there was a live piano player ; very accommodating staff despite being very busy, food was delicious
Good food with friendly and quick service particularly as the restaurant was full of other lively customers creating a great atmosphere
Had a wonderful time, it paid to pre book, a good selection on the menu with fab wine also
Enjoyed a good meal at Zizzi - friendly staff , good atmosphere and tasty food
Unique and gorgeous
I live within spitting distance of Zizzi's but was a bit worried that as a 'chain' restaurant it might not be glam enough to take my parents to (they were visiting from Staffs for the weekend).
I needn't have worried though, because the setting - a converted church - is gorgeous, the food was excellent and the service really good to boot. What's more there was a fantastic atmosphere which made the whole evening really enjoyable.
Very good service and nice food, would eat here again
Fantastic ambience and beautiful building for a restaurant.
Went to Zizi on New Years Eve - very busy but after a quick reminder to the waiting staff to take our order the service was excellent and the food was great.
We waited forty minutes for our pizzas and then a further half-hour after ordering desserts. My skinny pizza was burnt but the rusticas were declared 'best ever' by my grandsons. They also loved their chocolate bread-pudding desserts.
If you have two hours to spare while you hang around for what is essentially a very simple meal, then Zizzi-Cheltenham is worth a visit just for the stunning venue.
This restaurant is seriously understaffed in all areas and, foe this reason, I would not recommend it.
Had a great time at the restaurant, the food was brilliantas was the service. the only issue we had was finding it. It could do with a more prominant lit sign.
Having booked for an anniversary meal, we arrived at the restaurant to find no acknowledgement from staff. After a 10 minute wait, we were told that the reservation from OpenTable wouldn't have come through. The service was clunky and disjointed, the food was poor, elements were cold, and sautéed potatoes soggy. There must have been a deal on Rosemary, as everything was plastered in it. Ambiance was more like a canteen than a restaurant.
We passed comment about the Rosemary, and were told that we 'could have asked to have the dish without'.
We will not be returning. Highly disappointing!!
Excellent all round, food, ambiance and Waiter. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience
This was the first time I had eaten in Zizzi, and although the venue, being in an old Church, was at first, for me, a little strange it was soon forgotten by the atmosphere within the restaurant.
For a Thursday evening the Restaurant was busy which is always a good sign that the food and service are at a high standard.
I arrived later than the rest of my party, and within a couple of minutes of me arriving the waitress came over and asked if I would like a drink. I was impressed that she should notice me arriving in a restaurant that was busy. We were not rushed and given plenty of time to select our food from the Menu. The food was of a high standard, well presented and very tasty. Everyone on the table commented on how well the place was run and at the quality of the food.
We all commented that we would certainly be going to Zizzi's again in the future.
staff were very friendly and polite and the atmosphere was great. Wouldn't hesitate recommending it.
Restaurant was good but they had no record of my open Table booking which was embarrassing and they had to squeeze us in-70
Despite booking a table, my boss and his party arrived at the agreed time only to be greeted by a very long line of prospective clients. After standing in line for 5 minutes and nobody was moving, he went to the front of the queue to enquire what was happening. No one from Zizzi was in sight - so he went further into the restaurant and eventually found a waiter to ask what the likelyhood was of them sitting down to eat in the next 15 mins - the reply he received was "Impossible"... He therefore decided to depart and found a very nice indian restaurant around the corner who were very accommodating - and the food there was delicious!
If Zizzi's take bookings for specific times, they should at least try to accommodate them!
A really beautiful venue. Excellent food and service. Would definitely go back.
Busy, relaxed, good service and food-wise something for everyone. It's not for gourmet diners and I, personally wouldn't choose to go there on a night out with just my husband but I have been many times with the children and as a family. I really recommend booking tho as they get very busy in the evenings.
Open Table is great and I have used your service a number of times now with great ease and efficiency.
The customer is always right! I placed an order for a starter. When it didn't appear I asked my server for it. I was extremely disappointed to be told by the server that "you didn't order a starter" when I clearly did and she failed to take the order.
A hurried starter was then served which was ragu on cold bread.
Main course chicken was also terrible.
I had brought a group here but sadly wont do that again.
A good meal in an excellent and quirky environment with good service and reasonable prices
We were disappointed with our visit to Zizzi. First of all, being disabled meant that there were steps to the entrance. I did manage with the help of my partner to get up the steps and into the restaurant.
We had to change from a chair and table to the banquette because the chairs all have bars across the back where it means that anyone with a back problem is very uncomfortable because of the bar sticking into them.
The starter was not as good as it looks on the web site and I was really disapointed in the lack of topping on the "bread", then with the main course of the bream for me was so well cooked it was not as fish should be cooked. My partner had the spaghetti carbonara which was not as on the web site.
Lovely setting/building (an old church) if a bit open and lacking in intimate atmosphere. Do not recommend for special occasions. The food was very nice and the service superb and very friendly. Would definitely go back, especially after a day shopping or before drinks in town.
I only had a main but it was very nice, the seasoning was delicious, I had the pollo focaccia. It was very filling and the chicken was cooked to perfection.
Zizzi's in Cheltenham has such great ambiance, but they had no record of my Toptable reservation and advised this was a regular problem. My email to Toptable resulted in you assuming what had happened and started: 'I guess that....' without Toptable following it up and between you both sorting out this irregularity. It is in both your interests to do this rather than simply blaming each other. Zizzi's kindly accommodated us despite it being a very busy Saturday night, but unfortunately we waited over an hour for our main course. However Zizzi's did not charge us for any of the 5 main courses, so did the right thing. It is a great restaurant, we will return, but I will ring them directly rather than risk them not getting the reservation.
ZIZZI WAS WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR AND WAS GOOD VALUE,THEY SAID ON ARRIVAL THERE WAS NO BOOKING MADE FOR US BY TOP TABLE.THEY SAID TOP TABLE DO THIS OFTEN.
Beautiful interior, the old church with stained glass windows is great. We waited to be seated for a few minutes (we had booked) and were shown to a table. The loose cushions on the bench against the back wall were useful. The service was slow, it took some time for our drinks order to be taken. Staff member was pleasant. Overall the food tasted delicious but the 'skinny' pizzas were almost cold when they arrived. However, we ate them and enjoyed them, but it would have been better if they'd been hot.
