Zizzi - Durham
A good meal. Servers were pleasant and efficient. We were sat near the kitchen area so the ambience took a bit of a knock, but it wasn’t to too much of a hardship. Recommended.
DON'T GO THERE!! I had to give a minimum of 1 star in order to leave a review, but we actually walked out without eating due to a disgustingly rude woman on the front reception who was aggressive, sarcastic, vicious and a rude bully who has a horrendous manner of treating and speaking to customers. Before that experience we had gone there for a long time! It's a shame how 1 bad employee can ruin everything.
Excellent food. Great service. Love the fact you can see the kitchen . Enjoyed the atmosphere.
Had a great family meal with attendees ranging from pre teens through to 50s and we had a great time. The wine was a little light, but, otherwise it was a super mix of good food and location.
Booked a table to celebrate a birthday. Staff absolutely fab, nothing a bother. It's always a pleasure to eat at Zizzi Durham.
Really easy to book on line, very efficient staff and good food that was value for money. Our only criticism was that we were sitting near the door which didn’t seem to shut properly and that we were cold.
Our meal was terrible in Durham, they could learn a lot from other Zizzi’s we have visited. The skinny pizza’s were hard and tasteless and the pasta dish which was supposed to be in a cream sauce was swimming in water. Would not visit again.
We chose this restaurant for a special celebration meal during our visit to Durham and were delighted with our choice. We were warmly welcomed and shown quickly to our pre-booked table and given menus. The menu was wide-ranging and our food was wonderful. The atmosphere was happy and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
It was the staff who made the evening for us, attentive and fun without being over the top. Food was great, sitting downstairs much better than upstairs.
The restaurant didn’t have a reservation for us !!!!
Fabulous evening with excellent food, exceptional service, and warm atmosphere!
I think the food was overpriced for what it is was. I waited a very long time for my main course after my starter. Almost and hour. I was not impressed however the waitress was very nice
Really good evening. Nice food, good specials on offer and a nice atmosphere.
Really enjoyable meal with 3 generations being catered for. My Mum has difficulty walking and we were moved with no hassle to an upstairs table when we requested not to be downstairs. Friendly service and especially accommodating to the children
We visited this restaurant on a trip to Durham for the Lumiere festival. We were very pleased that we had booked, as the restaurant was packed and the staff had to turn people without bookings away while we were there. Despite it being at such a busy time, the service was very prompt, helpful and friendly, the food tasty and well presented and we very much enjoyed our meal. We would recommend it as a place to dine. Being right in the centre of Durham, it is very conveniently located.
Enjoyable family meal on a busy Saturday lunchtime
We booked a table for 5 and were seated in a nice quiet corner which suited well. The food was good although the time taken to bring it and the service was a little slow with kids, although we had good quality pencils and colouring in sheets supplied. I'd recommend to anyone and next time will ask for a slightly speedier service.
Service by waiter was good but I have never seen such a chaotic kitchen!! There seem to be no communication amongst the chefs and as a results things were missed and orders cocked up! We waited 45 minutes for our startes and another 35 minutes for our main. I honestly lost the will to live!! They even, yes, they are an Italian restaurant, run out of CHEESE!! It beggars belief!
Not recommended poorly trained staff, several wine choices out of stock and food mediocre. Staff spilt drinks over one of my guests. Ambience good
The starter options were very bread-based/heavy, but that doesn't mean we didn't enjoy them.
The main courses were great; the steak salad was delicious, and was the spicy piccante pizza.
Zizzi is always consistent, and the food is always good.
As soon as we sat down we were asked if we were ready to order, then within the next 5 minutes three other servers came and asked us the question again. The food was very nice but the staff seemed to be in a rush to get people in and out. Unless you asked them for something, then they just disappeared, never to be seen again.
excellent staff good atmosphere very enjoyable evening enjoyed watching the flambe being made in the kitchen and all the other goings on!
Always a super friendly atmosphere - we arrived 1 hour early and they accommodated this as a great manager. Great food and excellent value for money.
Without a doubt the best food I've had in a Zizzi. A dish I have recently enjoyed in other branches of Zizzi was much much better in the Durham branch. The restaurant was very busy but the staff valiantly kept things ticking over nicely. Lovely meal and a lovely bottle of Chianti.
Despite being Durham Miner's Gala day and the streets thronged with people drinking all evening, Zizzi's was a haven of pleasant calmness at 7.30 when we arrived! Service was relaxed, attentive and thorough and all done with a smile. It's a large restaurant right in the middle of the city and we were offered a table upstairs or downstairs. We had a table downstairs overlooking the river where we thoroughly enjoyed our food. The fish stew was very good!
Fantastic meal, lovely table for two in bay window and brilliant service. Only downside was a large party next to us which was very loud. We struggled to hear each other. Would definitely go again.
The service was poor sat for 20mins before being asked for drinks. Waiter uninterested and quite rude (camp fella with tattoos). We are a regular to zizzis mostly the one at the metro centre and thought it would be a change, never again!!
We went to Zizzi Durham after an evening lecture
Good shared starter of bread sticks and olives folowed by nice thin pizza and a pasta dish
Very good Carafe of Italian Shiraz
After a seminar on a cold October night we needed somewhere to eat quickly and reasonably
Zizzi in Durham provided that
Good service and decent Pizza/Pasta
