Zizzi - Norwich
Wood-fired ovens, open kitchens and modern interior design with locally influenced art features make for a vibrant atmosphere.
As for the food, they serve up a variety of traditional Italian dishes including all the usual suspects: salads, antipasti, pasta, pizza, calzone, risotto as well as fish and meat mains and desserts.
What Zizzi really pride themselves on is sourcing good quality ingredients; salads are dressed with white balsamic vinegar from Modena, for example, and offer Goddess Olives, a variety known for their firm flesh and nutty flavour.
The modestly priced wine list is dominated by Italian wines, starting at £13.45 for a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Hitchin's Zizzi has a great location in the centre of this historic market town, perfect for locals and tourists.
Good food as always. Ambiance in an unusual building relaxing. Busy as it was a Saturday but service kept pace throughout the meal.
Lovely food and great service .
Friends from work all got together and it was so busy but the food still came relatively fast! Lovely atmosphere and would definitely do again!
After a poor visit last time, I was happily surprised. Felt like I was in a completely different restaurant!
Hair in my pizza and lasagna tasted like a ready meal
Really good food and really good service.
When we arrived they had no record of the booking and said they never receive opentable bookings so we were lucky to get a table..
Lovely food. Reliable.
Slow service, meals came out at different times so we didn’t eat our meal all together, food wasn’t particularly presented well & hot & we were sat upstairs & had a 7 week baby with us to be told baby changing facilities were on the ground floor.
This meal was a family meal celebrating a special ocassion, although the staff were very friendly the service seemed to be extremely slow & perhaps the restaurant was under staffed?
We love the food at zizzi and so we keep going back but this branch has on three separate occasions made us wait for over an hour for food. Don’t go if your in any sort of rush!
We were extremely well looked after and made to feel very welcome even though we arrived near to closing after a night at the theatre. The pizza was beautifully prepared, served swiftly and by an erudite and very friendly young man. We will most certainly visit again. Thanks to all at Zizzi, Norwich.
Great service and very tasty. The chilli dough is the way to go. The only thing to mention was upon arrival, they didn’t have my open table reservation. They swiftly got us a table and all was fine.
Although they didn’t have my booking I’d made through Opentable they found us a table , I’d seen the set menu offer which was great value , the service was friendly and food tasty
We had pre-booked for Saturday evening and were glad we had since the place was pretty full. Tucked away in a corner, and being about twice the average age of the diners, we were overlooked by the waiters for a while. Once they remembered we were there things were fine.
Love Zizi in Norwich, even though we were put on quite a poor table by the kitchen door and a large party, so it was quite noisy, but the party was fun, food was good, service was nice, and not too slow considering the restaurant was so busy, food was hot, good and good value for money,
A lovely place for my family get together. Food amazing and freshly prepared. Lovely waiter. Highly recommended to all.
Was a very nice evening meal on a busy Good Friday. We arrived early but were able to be sat down in a very nice area of the restaurant.
All 3 courses were very nice and the service was excellent considering how busy it was.
Lovely pizza, relaxing. Nice staff and atmosphere.
Seated at table near open front door and disabled toilet. It didn't feel part of main restaurant. Asked if we could possibly move because we had a 5 month old baby they said no (even with lots of empty tables) but that they would close the door so it wasn't so drafty. The door never got closed. The food was extremely oily. I had something I'd had in another Zizzi that was no where near as oily, it was swimming in the stuff. Most of the staff were friendly enough but as we were sat with staff practically we could hear them moaning about their boss. I wouldn't go there again.
Finally got to try zizzi's own vegan cheese pizza - it was amazing! also great to have a vegan menu :-)
Very disappointing. Not up to the standard that we have come to expect from Zizzis.
The staff could not have been more helpful with our table of 9 people.
Had a lovely meal with my daughter on a Tuesday evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate outside as the weather was fine. Very easy to book on line using open table. A good range of dishes and drinks.
I wouldn't recommend it. It definetly was not value for money. Very meagre portions of food, mine was tasteless and my Sons very greasy. Seating very uncomfortable and basically not a very enjoyable experience
This is a very busy popular restaurant. I ordered lamb meatballs with pasta. The pasta and sauce was excellent but had trouble locating the meat! it consisted of one or two small but tasty meatballs chopped up in a dish. Place was too noisy for us really.
A perfect evening. My friend needed cheering up after a sad time in her family.I had some Tesco vouchers to redeem ,so thought ,what better way..The service, atmosphere and meal were all 10 out of 10.There was nothing to fault.I eat many spaghetti Bolognese when dining, and this was just about one of the best.
I will most certainly be returning and pay full price without vouchers as everything there is worth every penny. To see the kitchen open and working ,that I love to see,how it is all prepared.
I look forward to visiting many times...Thankyou for a wonderful evening.
Having come out for a birthday meal for two we found Zizzi to be a lovely place to eat. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff appeared professional and were really friendly. Having been asked about birthday prosecco, the lovely waitress provided a free glass despite its being advertised as for 4 people with a code. I could go on but suffice to say that the food was excellent and very good value for money!
The service was very good, however my pizza was not brilliant. Not enough cheese to start with. My dessert was excellent. Probably wouldn't recommend this.
A friend and I enjoyed our meal at Zizzi's on Wednesday 3rd June.
Thankfully there was no problem being seated as unfortunately, despite booking with Open Table,
Zizzi's had no record of my booking. I took the confirmation email I received but it was not recorded with the restaurant. It seemed strange as I received another email from Open Table the day before our booking advising that our reservation was nearly here.
For future reference, if you could look into the query and advise why this may have happened it would be appreciated.
Went to Zizzis with a friend for a catch up meal. Wow! We had to shout to hear ourselves let alone each other. Glad I wasn't out for a romantic meal with a partner. According to our waitress who was lovely it is always like this, i.e full of hen parties and similar. I don't know how rthe staff cope so all props to them. Pasta was fine, ice cream lacklustre despite descriptions and portions small. Also came with no spoons! Probably fine for lunch midweek.
Mothers Day, Busy restaurant, good service. Enough said. Thanks
the staff are good, the place is in good nick, the food fresh and good (fritto misto is particularly fine), all round a good experience
we visited prior to going to the theatre... service was attentive and good, food was utterly awesome, can highly recommend the Calamari starter and the choc icecream, whipped mascarponi, caramel sauce and caramelized peanut desert ... wine was very good too...overall a great experience!
Very enjoyable lunch with terrific friendly and attentive service.
Saturday evening - very busy, but not really an excuse for very poor service. No reflection on the waiting staff, who were good, but the kitchen needs to get better organised to deal with the covers it has.
lovely but music not appropriate too load
It was very good overall, they went a bit skimpy on the toppings though.
Friend nd I ordered a risotto and a pizza and whilst prompt and tasty-both were lukewarm.
The restaurant didn't have the reservation for the table booked through Toptable!! They eventually found a table for our group of 4 by the entrance where people were milling about. Neither my sister's main course pick or dessert choice were available. We gave up after one course, paid & left. A poor evening.
Tried a different branch of this chain but found the same great experience, good service, food and attention to details. Still high on my list
