Zizzi - Oxford
Amazing staff so friendly. Very accommodating. Very impressed and WOULD recommend. (and I don’t leave reviews very often but this was awesome)
the service was slow, wrong order delivered to table meant we ate separately and food not great, red wine tasted rancid and i was really disappointed in the whole experience
My reservation by OpenTable was Not recognized by the restaurant.
Zizzi’s were great, despite the fact that they never received the booking from Opentable.

I’m usually very fond of Zizzi’s, but this restaurant was very disappointing. Having booked a table, we waited by the door for 15 minutes before anyone had realised we’d arrived. We then waited 40 minutes for our starters to arrive, I had to ask three waiters to check our order because the other two simply forgot. The food was tasty, but the service was appalling. I wouldn’t even give it one star. Our table went completely unnoticed the entire evening, it took forever for someone to take our plates and the staff were constantly rushing around making the environment quite stressful and difficult to enjoy my meal.
Four of us went for a pre-theatre meal on Friday evening - along with everyone else who was going to Mama Mia at the New Theatre, or so it seemed!
It was incredibly busy and we were a little concerned that the service would be slow but, having informed our friendly waitress we were going to the theatre, we had enough time.
Salads were particularly good.
This restaurant is a good choice for a quick, pre-theatre meal as the theatre is just across the road.
Seated straight away, staff were fantastic and food was great. Went here before going to the theatre due to it being really close.
Would definitely go again and recommend.
Perfect evening, nice environment and looked after as my mum was visiting from the North and came to mind as a great evening for us to share the evening together
Quite good food, however, we had to wait for our meal for over 40 minutes!
Always have a great time at Zizzi - this occasion was no different. We decided to go last minute and were so glad we did. The nocarella olives are to die for and the pesce risotto was delicious.
Will be visiting again and continuing to recommend to friends.
Booked a table for dinner - arrived at the restaurant to find they had no record of the booking. We were told there would be a table in 2 minutes. At least 15 minutes later we were still waiting, then another couple walked in without having booked, and about 30 seconds later were taken to a table while we were completely ignored. No acknowledgement again so at that point we walked out. Would not recommend.
Zizzi had no record of our booking through Open Table. Though they were able to find us a table, the two companies really should sort the system out. We were told at the time we should have booked through Zizzi's own website and would recommend anyone to do the same.
Our order was obviously lost or forgotten about at some point. More than one table around us, all who arrived after us, got their food a long time before us.
When we did eventually get our food, we all had very good pizzas.
It's a shame about the service, because we enjoyed the food.
Despite having pre booked a table for Sunday (19th Feb), upon arrival we were told that there would be a "long wait" and there were no pizzas and "few pastas". We went elsewhere. The following day (Monday 20 Feb) we decided to try Zizzi again and, again, pre-booked. Within 5 mins they phoned us to say that they could not accommodate us due to some problem in the kitchen. This was a very vague message. So no luck for two consecutive days....and no real apology. I cannot understand how we would have a "long wait" when we pre booked for a specific time! Poor show Zizxi Oxford.
The food was good when we got it. But the wait was absolutely ridiculous and we had to chase staff repeatedly to take orders etc. We had the impression it was very understaffed and mismanaged. I could not recommend this restaurant. And that is shame because the food is good.
Very long delays on food. No starters ordered but still 75 minutes before the mains turned up
Normally good restaurant, I believe they bake the pizza in a brick oven (which for me is far better than an electric one), the other night the staff had a problem with the fridge and we spent 2+ hours waiting to be served until the manager came by in the room and explained the incident.
I do not have a problem with that and I also appreciate that they put all their efforts in trying to solve the problem: they should only let us know that they had a problem and let us to decide whether to stay or leave.
Normally my experience with Zizzi has been otherwise good.
Excellent food! (although other people thought so as well, hence it was quite busy)
We had an enjoyable meal and although we were given the wrong meal at first and the bulb went in our light it was handled with good humour and efficiency.
Nice, relaxed but buzzy place even at 2pm on a Thursday. The arancini were really good as was the Aperol Spritz and not too badly priced. Service was really good but not intrusive.
It was average. Not awesome not poor. Just average.
Daughters birthday. Waited 20 mins and eventually walked over to get someone to take a drinks order. Apparently missed a delivery on Friday so an Italian restaurant with no Mozzarella!! This was Sunday (do Sainsburys not sell Mozzarella?!)
Just nothing stands out from Bella Pasta/Ask etc etc. Formulaic Italian. If you are in Oxford go to La Cucina for a better and proper Italian meal.

Good value for money, location great. Food was good, fresh, tasty the only niggle was that it was cold - although they said the air con wasn't on, it clearly was. A few people complained but they didn't seem to be bothered. Would return next time we visit Oxford.

Better than average food for a brightly-lit pasta-and-pizza chain by some distance and far above average value for money. Ditto for wine. Service was top-notch on a very busy rainy Friday evening, welcoming and friendly.
Second time dining here. First time was not great. 50 minute wait between starter and main meant we were rushed and late for our subsequent movie down the road.
We thought we'd give it another try though as the food on the first visit was just amazing.
This time round the food wasn't quite as good. The penne della casa was a bit wet and the bacon a bit fatty.
We had a really great time though and the serving staff were brilliant this time even though the place was super busy. I advise making a booking as the queue is out to the street sometimes if you don't.
A good Italian meal, freshly cooked with fairly prompt service. There were ample portions and it was tasty.
There were nine of us attended, but we were nowhere near the largest party of the day.
The service was pretty quick, though there were a few points where the drinks were a little slower than we wanted.
The food was pretty much as you'd expect - never going to worry the Michelin guide, but nothing got left!
Staff very pleasant good venue for a pre theatre meal. Good value with ATG discount. Enjoyed meal and will return on our next trip to the theatre.
Had lunch with friends using Tesco vouchers to keep costs of eating out down. Food itself was really tasty, well presented and piping hot. Service polite and unobtrusive. Food took a while to come, but as there was 8 of us in our party, that was fine for us.
Very convenient location and a typical high end chain restaurant menu. Reliably good standard however service could have been better. Our waiter disappeared regularly and we waited some time for dessert and he bill.
Appetizer and dessert were very good, but that was the most tasteless risotto I ever had.
Our business party booked a table for 9 people though the Zizzi'z online booking system- however, when we arrived there was no record of our booking, even though we had the booking reference number. Main problems: the downstairs dinning area smells like a sewer, even the staff were embarrassed to seat us down there. We ended up waiting longer to get four tables pushed together for our group. There was an acute lack of staff- we watched numerous tables get up & walk to the register themselves in order to try & pay. Staff, however, were very polite & doing their best. The food was mediocre at best- Zizzi's has seriously deteriorated since it's start up days.
No booking received online so no table reserved. Took at least 15mins to take our order. Of a table of 4, 2 meals arrived and 15 mins later the remaining meals arrived. Fish stew over cooked, mussels burnt on top and stew virtually dried up.
All other tables were asked if everything was ok but our table was avoided. I wonder why? We had to go to the theatre so we did not have time to make a fuss, but very disappointed with the whole experience.

An excellent pre-theatre dinner for a part of seven. Very obliging and switched on staff who contributed towards and excellent experience.
I booked Zizzi at the last minute for a Friday supper in Oxford. I can see why it wa not mulls booked at 8.00pm. The food was very disappointing. My risotto was stodgy and my wife's baked aubergine was not a patch on Pizza Express's. not a place to return to.
Having not been to Zizzi's for a while we were really pleased. The new 'Tapas' options were really interesting and very tasty. They do good deals and we got 25% off the bill. We will certainly go back.
We have eaten at Zizzi a number of times and always found it to do very well what the restaurant chain sets out to achieve. However, on this occasion what had been a pleaseant meal with attentive service was totally ruined when we came to pay and the restaurant totally refused to accept our Toptable dining cheque or even to call the contact number printed on the front of the cheque to verify it. This alone has coloured my rating of the restaurant on this occasion.
