Zizzi - Romford
Bit loud but to be expected at a family restaurant at lunch time. Food was good a prepared quickly. Waiter was great and friendly.
All good, deserts very good
on Valentine's day I booked a table for 2 at 7pm. Received starts at 8.15pm after complaining about the wait. then at 9.15pm we asked to leave as we did not receive our dinner, the kitchen was falling apart on a set menu and the staff ignored us numerous times. ended up in McDonald's!
We had booked a specific table a couple of months back as it is the easiest one for my mum to sit as in her wheelchair (we don't normally have an issues), upon arrival our table was not made up and we were asked to sit somewhere else. I refused and asked them to set the table we had requested - they were not very happy but did do it. They were quite accommodating when two of our party arrived late, however once we had ordered drinks, the manageress decided that was a great time to have a conversation with our waitress which meant that our drinks were sitting on the bar for quite a while before we received them. They have changed the menu (again) - there are no specials any more, also they have changed the Sea Bass dinner to only pepper & olive ragù, garlic sautéed sprouting broccoli & cavolo nero and have removed the potatoes (nearly £16.00), we were offered potatoes at an extra cost? I don't consider this a "full" dinner and the cost of the Sea Bass has remained the same with less food. The also recently removed the Green Goddess Salad - this was lovely - and replaced it with a tasteless, dry, disgusting alternative. During my visit a week or so ago, I had the Pinoli Pizza - Goat's cheese, mozzarella, caramelised balsamic onions, sunblush tomatoes, pine nuts, riserva cheese & basil. It arrived without Goats Cheese - when I asked the manager about it, I was told that it had Goats cheese but it had melted - if you know anything about goats cheese you will know that it does not melt very easily - If you "google" it you get the response "Stay away from these cheeses because they will never melt: halloumi, feta, cotija, ricotta, creamy goat, queso fresco." - so not sure how it melted away??? We will eat at this restaurant again, as we always try to give places the benefit of doubt - but hopefully we will have a better experience - we normally try to go in when Anna Valapkova is serving as she is one of the best waitresses that we have ever been served by.
We came to Zizzi for a girls meal out. Two of us ordered calzone but both were burnt and didn’t taste great. The waitress saw they were burnt and took them off the bill for us. Despite it not being very busy, the service was still very slow. The waitresses were friendly.
great food, great value for money good service...definitely recommend
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was great, except mine, but they took it off the bill so I was happy.
I was meeting a friend in Romford and Zizzi was a great place to catch up and have a great meal as the same time. We sat near the window, the waiter was attentif and discret at the same time. The special cocktails we had were very nice however the presentation could I have been better. The food was very tasty. We finished our meal with a dessert and coffees and were left to talk in peace which was wonderful.
A restaurant that I would recommend and visit again soon.
No starters available other than calamari and no pizza available - how can Italian with 75% of its menu being pizza not have pizza available??
We were seated and we had to wait about 15 minutes to be served and then I had to ask for a Gluten free Menu. The food was disappointing. I think the Pasta quality could be improved maybe if you use a rice pasta instead? I also I thought the sauce was quite bland. Can there be more Gluten and Dairy free options or things you can add to the Pasta Pomodoro like Chicken or vegetables as more and more people are realising they are intolerant to things. Also I couldn't see any desserts apart from the usual fruit and sorbet that is suitable for Dairy and Glutens.
It was nice to see them preparing the food. Not nice at all that they didn't had a clue that we had a reservation. Probably we were just lucky cause they had a free table when we got there. We waited for 40 minutes to get the desert ! ..
Wonderful service, great food and all topped up with a special offer on Fridays of half price Prosecco. Zizi's you made my day.
They did not have my online booking though , so we were lucky they could find a table for us!
Was a really nice restaurant and the food was lovely.A bit disappointed that I had booked a table in advance with this website but when I arrived we wasn't booked, luckily there was space and we got a table.
We love to go for a meal to the restaurant every other weekend and when Zizi in Romford was open its become our first and favourite choice. Very nice interior design and atmosphere, very good staff and food always perfect. We have our favourites but sometimes like to order something different and it's nice as well. On the Valentines day we spent £22 on three course meal including one glass of Prosecco, which is I feel very convenient.
Valentine's Day dinner for 2.
A set menu had been provided which was a bit limited.
The one starter (selection platter) was basic and quite stingy.
My partners main was very small (menu bragged of it being less than 500 calaries and I can see why!) and was cold.
Desserts were reasonably tasty and the prosecco was ok too.
Service was good although they did seem under staffed.
Food wasn't bad but it wasn't anything you couldn't do at home and therefore wasn't great value either.
This was a shame as Zizzi is noramlly a good place to eat with a broader menu.
Maybe I'll try again on a less notable date.
Having eaten in several branches, one thing I can say is consistent about the Zizzi franchise - the fact that quality and service varies dramatically from branch to branch. Visiting the Romford branch with a couple of friends midweek we found the service to be very hit and miss and slow, even surly at times. However, the food was OK and fairly tasty .... nothing to write home about but a good enough place to meet up over a relaxed , reasonably priced and tasty bite to eat.
Visited Zizzi (Romford) on Friday 21st June to celebrate wife's birthday. Food was good but service was very bad. No warmth, no smiles from our male waiter. Just a dour, blank expression on his face all during our time. Was soooooo reluctant to leave a tip but did so at the insistance of our younger daughter. Even then, no thank you or anything fm this waiter. Shouldn't have bothered.Would I go back? I really don't think so. Plenty of other resturants to choose from. I would suggest Prezzo (south woodford). They reallly make you feel welcome and valued as a customer. Their staff is mainly eastern European and they are polite, have good manners and always say please & thankyou.
Four of us had booked quite a while before for Mothers Day lunch when there was availability at all times and had asked for a decent table. When we arrived we were given the worst table right by the cold and draughty doorway. The waiter said not to book through Top Table as they had only got those bookings that morning?! Comments please Top Table. We were moved to a table by the service door. The restaurant is not decorated in the same tasteful manner as other Zizzi branches and had loud music unsuitable for Mothers Day. The starter, two of the mains and the chocolate ice-cream we wanted were off and the waitress didn't tell us this until we tried to order. They did give us two mains for free but this wasn't the point. Never again.
I do like zizzi as my go-to place when I don't want to travel far. I know there will always be something different, and lots of choices. Staff are very friendly always and there are often deals about!
Ate with two friends and was disappointed with the fact that my choice of meal was not available after I had ordered but the staff were very helpful and friendly and handled the matter very well. Good for a relaxed and tasty bite to eat
food was tasty and served quickly, however for the main course there didn't seem to be enough and after eaating starter, main and dessert you expect to be full:) Zizzi hiornchurch has bigger servings
booked for a xmas night out was very reasonable and staff very helpful and obliging x
Very nice meal, lovely, helpful waitress. Waited a little to long for our courses though.
The staff were not aware of the dining cheque and was left very embarrased by the way the manger treated me, like I was a thief. The right dish didn't come, I had to wait another 15 mn for mine, while my partner dish was getting cold. Zizzi can do better!
