Long thought to be the building where our entries namesake was held as a prisoner before being hung in Cornmaket, The Jailhouse as it is now known has been frozen in time for the last 70 years nearly forgotten about completely. Restored as part of the Joys Entry project, the aim was to keep as much of the original character of the building as possible. Brick walls, inscribed beams and original windows, take a closer look and see what history and tales you can find while you sip on tipples and nibble on rations. Time Served Well.

    First time at The Jailhouse, won't b our last. Staff were very friendly n attendance. Food was so nice, as were the cocktails. Great buzz about the place.

    Lovely greeting on arrival to the restaurant . Our order was taken by Dagmar, she is so helpful, cheery and couldn’t do enough to make our evening special. We ordered the steak special that evening, mine was cooked medium and my wife’s was medium rare. They were cooked to perfection with a side of mash , chips , onion rings and side salad. It comes with a bottle of Red, white or bubbles. Oh, I had the calamari starter. Also cooked to perfection, not chewy but tender. Just right. My wife’s pâté started was with forcacia, pesto and a delicious chutney. Steaks are not something we usually order but the whole deal was great value and delicious 10/10

    The meal was absolutely delicious - perhaps slightly expensive but the quality and taste of the food made it worth all worth it. Will look forward to going back on another special occasion
