I had seen some really nice looking food and reviews on Facebook, so wanted to try the Sunday roast here. Well so glad we did, it was amazing. Really enjoyed ourselves, the service was great. Shirley, you made our visit, such a friendly, lovely, hard working lady, that made such an effort. We will be back.

The Phoenix in Whitechapel keeps proving why it’s one of my favourite spots. The whole experience was outstanding from start to finish. Proper good food, great people and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. I went for the steak sandwich this time, and it was honestly spot‑on. Tender, full of flavour and put together with care. The fish and chips were just as impressive. Crispy, fresh and not greasy at all. You can tell the kitchen actually cares about what they’re serving. The staff here deserve a shout. They’re friendly in a genuine way, quick when you need something and they make the place feel welcoming without hovering. The ambience is warm and comfortable and the quiet setting makes it easy to enjoy your meal without any background chaos. For the quality you get, the value is brilliant. Generous portions, fair prices and an experience that feels worth every penny. Another outstanding visit, easily one of the best pubs in the area.

We had a wonderful Sunday Roast at The Williams, I only eat small portions so was delighted to find they had an option of 1/4 or 1/2 Roast Chicken, nonetheless this was still a big portion, and tasty, tender and moist, my partner had the Roast Loin of Pork which he said was delicious, we both commented on the lovely atmosphere and friendly staff too. We will return.

Good value steak n frites £15 went at 5.30 no one else in dining room left around 6.45 and still very quiet.

Nice lunch with friends in the Crutched Friar. Friendly staff and reasonable beer in a traditional pub. We had the bacon & cheese burger which was well prepared but a little smaller than hoped, but probably reasonable for the city.

    Great quality food with fresh ingredients, their staple burger was also good. Portions slightly small and prices high. Restaurant was also super loud!

    My first visit with a family friend and my baby daughter, it was absolutely lovely. It didn’t feel like a pub, more a restaurant and the staff really went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to make sure you are okay. I love my food, I had the seabass, and I felt it was excellent value for a lunchtime deal. Can’t wait to go back!
