Although it seemed that the wait staff was shorthanded (it was our waitress's first day on the job), they did a commendable job of keeping customers satisfied and getting the food to us promptly. The food was superb, particularly the maple seared scallops. We will definitely go back.

We went to the Salty Stag for a casual lunch and the view was beautiful. Our server Jana (dp?) was helpful and attentive in spite of serving customers outdoors on the patio along with us being indoors. Our meals were very delicious with generous portions. In particular was the amount of lobster in the Lobster Mac and Cheese! So good and too much for one person. ( We ended up taking a huge portion home .) I also recommend the SPI Cooler for a nonalcoholic refreshingly yummy beverage! It’s made with 4 different fruits and really hit the spot on a summer day! Finally, we decided to get desserts to go since we were full but wanted something sweet to have later. We got two of the decadent chocolate flourless tortes. They were packed perfectly so when we ate them later they looked as nice as if we had eaten them at Spruce Point! Thanks to this lovely experience we now look forward to returning for a dinner at their upscale Whiteclover dining room! I hope to have the Lobster Thermidor !!!

What a great find! We were familiar with the hotel’s outdoor restaurant but had never dined inside The Armory before. We sat at the bar, although there is table seating as well. In fact, we enjoyed ourselves so much we went back a second night! Staff was wonderful! Warm and engaging, but never overbearing. Shout out to bartenders Maddie and Jackie, and to the chefs, who delivered delicious meals both nights. The Caesar salad was just perfect; the best we’ve had in a long time. Appetizers were generous and a cut above normal starters. Salmon was cooked to perfection the first night by chef Andy. Shrimp and duck were top notch the next night and chef George even came out to check on us and discuss his flavors. We will definitely be dining at The Armory again!
