I was with four Texan friends who wanted seafood and the reviews here had been good so… we were bowled over by the friendly welcome, the great cocktails and the tremendous food. The venue is off the beaten track, but totally worth the trek and my chums who are familiar with Louisiana food absolutely loved it. Not to mention the Sazerac cocktail with shot of absinthe. Hostess and chef were great characters and helped make it a memorable evening

Lovely meal. We had the set menu which gave a good choice. I had been before and had really enjoyed the food but I hadn’t been for a long while as I had heard bad reports. I am glad the restaurant is as good as before. One of my fellow diners was on his 3 visit and confirmed they had also been delighted with the food

Mussels were really nice. Staff were approachable and helpful. We will be returning. We particularly enjoyed the atmosphere sitting outside within the Lanes.

Easy to book, service was good on arrival taken to our table straight away. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was good as they had someone playing a piano in the background. Considering it was not busy we did have to be patient as the food took 40 minutes to arrive. Will definitely be back.

I have quite a tricky relationship with mussels. I absolutely adore them — but only when they’re prepared properly. There should be no unpleasant smell whatsoever, and the sauce needs to be made with good-quality cream and wine. I honestly can’t think of another place in the UK, not just on the Isle of Wight, that comes close to the mussels Baywatch serves at its summer dinners. They are genuinely exceptional. Definitely come and try them for yourself — you won’t be disappointed.
