What a wonderful evening at Darlings, I took my partner for his birthday after visiting the V&A East Storehouse, had seen a few bad reviews so was a bit hesitant, but thought I would take a chance, and I'm so glad I did. The starters were fantastic, the courgette fritti in a very light batter, and the cod were so tasteful. Mains were casarece with pork, leek and fennel ragu and spaghetti with clams, wine, garlic and chilli, superb. We shared the tiramisu, probably the best I've ever had...sweet enough but not overpowering. Drinks were on the small side, but the ambience, lighting and music and overall vibe was just perfect. We'll be back!

The Phoenix in Whitechapel keeps proving why it’s one of my favourite spots. The whole experience was outstanding from start to finish. Proper good food, great people and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. I went for the steak sandwich this time, and it was honestly spot‑on. Tender, full of flavour and put together with care. The fish and chips were just as impressive. Crispy, fresh and not greasy at all. You can tell the kitchen actually cares about what they’re serving. The staff here deserve a shout. They’re friendly in a genuine way, quick when you need something and they make the place feel welcoming without hovering. The ambience is warm and comfortable and the quiet setting makes it easy to enjoy your meal without any background chaos. For the quality you get, the value is brilliant. Generous portions, fair prices and an experience that feels worth every penny. Another outstanding visit, easily one of the best pubs in the area.
