Best Historic Restaurants in East Cowes

My husband and I have been here a number of times, and yesterday we attended for our one year wedding anniversary. We really appreciated the enthusiasm of the staff at the door after they realised why we were there. The food was exceptional; neither of us had tried scallops before but the starter was sublime, and my husband could not stop complimenting the quality of the steak. We'll absolutely be back for future special occasions.

Exceptional food, very friendly, welcoming staff although they were a bit rushed off their feet at times. They manage to hit the casual unfussy vibe while delivering really outstanding food and excellent service. Would absolutely recommend.

Sunday lunch for five and the weather was good enough to sit outside in the garden and enjoy the views of the Solent and Isle of Wight. The food was lovely and well presented. My husband and youngest son enjoyed a dirty burger and chicken burger respectively, my middle son and his wife enjoyed a selection of small plates and I enjoyed a beetroot and onion tart. My only gripe was that mine wasn’t overly filling but it was absolutely delicious. Our server was polite, attentive and an absolute delight and we weren’t hurried in any way. We have dined/drank at the Alverbank a few times over the years and it never disappoints. We will definitely be returning. Thank you.
