When we took over The Legal Eagle, we inherited some of the glorious features, and the building really spoke to us of old-fashioned pub-grub. We looked to the old traditions of pickles, roasts, meaty joints & braises and knew we should honour our traditional lexicon of producers where possible and also allow our guests to enjoy a lighter style of dining.
We make our own crisps, croqueta, our own Scotch eggs (they're really delish), and supporting our burgeoning salumi and farmhouse cheese industry with platters of cold cuts. We are smoking our own spuds and have a local vegetable grower growing to our needs !
We are crazy about beer, whiskey and gin but wine is where we started and it remains a driving force for us. We have a stellar cocktail and wine list written with love and care
We have an ever so slightly more formal dining room upstairs, which is also great for events, weddings, private parties and get-togethers and hugely popular with industry folk. Can't wait to see all!

The Winding Stair Bookshop & Café became a famous Dublin landmark in the 1970s and 1980s. Named after the Yeats poem and in honour of its winding staircase, it is overlooking the river Liffey, with an iconic view of the Ha'penny bridge. As a popular meeting place for writers, musicians and artists, it was a well known hub for debate and creativity with many poems written, novels penned and movies shot within its walls. In 2006, Elaine Murphy brought this much-loved spot back to life as a restaurant, championing seasonal, Irish produce. The bookshop, located on the ground floor, was retained, as were many of the old bookshelves, photos and memories. The room retains its timeless charm with stripped wood tables and floors, and Bentwood café chairs.The view remains as quintessentially Dublin as ever.
The food is good, old-fashioned home cooking, with produce sourced from artisans within the island. Drink sare local and international craft beers & wines from stellar producers.

The Woollen Mills has been one of the most iconic buildings and businesses in Dublin for over one hundred years, and to have taken over this site is a serious privilege. Much like our award-winning sister restaurant next door, The Winding Stair, we feel like we are custodians of something very special... a piece of history (James Joyce worked here, how unbelievable is that?!) and we must do it proud! Spanning over four floors and with a glorious roof terrace overlooking the River Liffey. The Woollen Mills is quintessentially Irish, local and of its locale. We want it to be an 'Eating House', a house of food, a place to grab a coffee and bun, a plate of Irish fish and chips, a place to score a casual bite befre the nearby theatres and cinemas or sit with seven courses of Irish antipasti, burrata, crab, lamb or cauliflower steak, overlooking the Ha'penny Bridge with a fine bottle of red or a craft beer.     Great atmosphere. Excellent food. Awesome service. Sommelier helped us with wine choice and waiter was super attentive. All in a beautiful setting - an old bank full of character and charm. We were a party of six and no one was disappointed.

    Winding Stair is one of our favorite places to eat. Ingredients are local, dishes are consistently excellent, service is warm and efficient. Window seat views are gorgeous. I’d love to find a place as awesome in the SF Bay Area. Years later, Winding Stair continues to be a highlight of any visit to Ireland.

    We had a lovely lunch here yesterday, our server was very friendly & informative. She really went out of her way to look after us and gave us a lovely birthday plate for our friend at the end. Really recommend the food & drink here everyone enjoyed everything. The atmosphere was so chilled such a nice spot and everyone couldn't have been nicer!

    Absolutely delicious food , for 29.95 you get unlimited garlic bread that is the best garlic bread we have ever had, steak which was cooked and seasoned perfectly woth seasoned fries which as also unlimited and a choice of sauce, and a side salad. For dessert it's very tasty profiteroles and chocolate sauce. You will be Absolutely stuffed after , there is also a chicken option too. They do it really well and it shows as it was so busy but the service definitely didn't reflect how busy they were, so fast and efficient and very friendly. This is my 3rd visit to this group of restaurants and I will definitely return and recommend it to everyone visiting Dublin.

    Very good ribeye steak for two. Cooked perfectly, good sides (mashed and carrots) and good sauces (peppercorn and bone). Touristy area of city but not a tourist trap. Would definitely return.
