Fabulous food, as always. A lovely new menu where most starters and mains are gluten free or GF option. Definitely a treat.

This was the first time I’d booked to have a meal at the pub although I’ve been here a couple of times for drinks with friends. We were immediately greeted by a lovely member of staff who I’ll refer to as M. She was sunny, welcoming and accommodating to our group and got our drinks order promptly. M also was informative when it came to recommending and explaining items on the menu. We had a pork roast dinner, a beef roast dinner and a creamy pasta dish. The food was delicious … sorry the food was well presented and delicious and everything was consumed with great gusto!!! A couple of us still had room for the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream - Yummylicious! I haven’t ventured out for a pub meal for a while but definitely would come back again and also recommend to anyone interested. Thanks M for your hospitality and thanks to the chef for a wonderful meal.

I am a regular at The Old Crown. However on my last visit for a business dinner we were terribly dissatisfied. Booked an early dinner for 6pm however food only arrived at 8pm after waiting an hour and a half for what was the worst fish and chips we have ever had. Batter was over cooked and hard. Chips for each meal were burnt. The poor waiter was very apologetic and took some of the food off the bill. However damage was done as my colleagues said that we should never eat there again. Obviously I will go back personally. Such a pity that the kitchen let done the front of house.

We were a party of 6 for a Sunday Lunch celebrating a birthday. Although they asked if it was a celebration nothing was done to recognise it in anyway? The roast meal was ok but not exceptional by any means . The roast potatoes were soggy and the plate was swimming in gravy. The crab starter was very good. Would I go again probably not .

Well ? The end of an era I’m afraid ! Quite sadly ! We have been coming here for years but won’t be returning as having complained about the quality of the food we were told that you have a new chef and that is the standard from now on ! New standard , roast potatos you Can’t get a knife through and chicken that was over cooked , flavourless gravy , altogether a forgettable culinary experience . Wishing you luck for the future as I think you will need it

Paul, it's a real shame you feel this way. I was observing all that went on and your reaction to the team member who served you was verging on unpleasant. It is not necessary to shout across a full restaurant to complain about roast potatoes, there are plenty of other more worrying issues in the world these days. We have always accommodated your requests, children's portions, specific seating, and have always tried to be as helpful and welcoming as we can. We do in fact have a new head chef, however the chef on Sundays responsible for the roast potatoes is the same one who has cooked your roast potatoes for the past 4 years. We totally comped your food on this occasion as a gesture of goodwill, which you obviously did not appreciate at all, even though you had cleared both of your plates.
