Best Cocktail Bars in Thornburg

We visited The Lion's Den for our Anniversary. Wednesday night is a great night to visit! Not terribly busy. I wish I could remember our waiters name. He was excellent! Johnny on the spot with whatever we needed. This guy understands the meaning of service! The food was excellent! My wife enjoyed a filet mignon with the wine jus. The steak was nicely crusted on the outside and perfectly cooked to medium rare. I had the special, Lamb Chops with smashed potatoes with a grain mustard reduction. Delicious!!! The lamb was also crisp on the outside and medium rare inside. If I could have eaten the bones I would have. Instead, I will have to share them with our blood hound. The mustard reduction was light and flavorful without overpowering the lamb. All in all, a great meal with great service.

Drove up from Southern Maryland, and met a friend from Vienna for dinner. There was plenty of parking in the front lot. We had planned to eat on the outside patio, but it was 5 o’clock and the street traffic was distracting so we asked for a quiet table indoors. We got the booth in the back in the corner in the dark and it was perfect! Cocktails were delicious and food was great. I recommend the smoked old-fashioned, Brussel sprouts and the braised short rib ribs!

We enjoy this restaurant for its great food and wonderful service. I have food issues and they work around them seamlessly. The menu is varied and always a great choice, then their daily specials are out of this world. You will enjoy whatever you try and be open to trying everyone else's dishes too. Enjoy a great time for families or couples. Everyone is welcome.

My partner and I returned to Pres Des Pres because we'd had a memorable experience there a few years ago, and were not disappointed. Our meals and wine were exceptional. Our server, who seemed to have many other roles, was pleasant, attentive, and engaging. The ambience was spacious and calm, but noticeably quiet. Given its remarkable quality, it seemed odd that there was only one other table occupied on a Friday evening. This place would be overflowing if it were in DC or NY...but part of its charm is that it is NOT in any of those crowded places.
