The food was exceptional. The waitress was lovely-polite and friendly, well informed about the food, and was also well informed about the history of the (beautiful) building. One of Oxford’s beast restaurants.

The lamb shoulder meal was fantastic! You will not go away hungry! Generous portions and cooked to perfection! Hats off to Luke, the chef (also known as the gardiner!). Wonderful ambience and the service was the best, thanks Lisa! Loved the small village feel of the place.

Wonderfully relaxed Sunday lunch with delicious alternative to Sunday roasts for smaller appetite, really enjoyed the Game & Prune Terrine with side salad & warm baguette slices. Together with Bang-Bang cauliflower and a refreshing pair of Sorbet balls, all very generous in size. Truly stuffed!! Nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon when friends are poorly & the weather is drizzly outside....

We love coming to The Bear and for very good reason. Unfailingly excellent food and service. The owners and staff are always very welcoming and friendly and they remember all the small details about their customers.... nothing is ever too much trouble. It's a gem of a pub, and we always have a lovely time.
